its 200 for tint all around , for 2010 tl with cheap tint. and 400 with the best tint . someone explain this to me plz , does it really make a difference

Expecting a detailed response in 20 mins might be asking a little much.

It depends on what kind of tint you want. To make things short, when looking for tint, look for a type that isnt metallized. This will put a damper on your cell signal. Second, look for a non-dyed tint. Some dyed tints will fade over time and result im an ugly purple color. Next look for heat rejection. I havent found a good heat rejection on a film that is not dyed but I imagine it is out there somewhere.

To answer your question, the 200 tint is likely not worth it. When you tint, get a quality film and more importantly, get it done right. Even the most professional of tinters can make mistakes. So make sure you are getting a good guarantee that the shop you go to wipl fix any mistakes.

Just got my car tinted with the 3M crystalline tint and the clear bra from expel. I went with the nice tint as it will keep my interior cooler in the summer. I am black/black so I am hoping it will keep things warm and hot scorching hot. I also went with 30%.

I would recommend the more expensive tint as you will be happier in the long run. I think you get what you pay for with tint.

My last car that was tinted was with LLumar. I remember at the time it being one of the better, longer lasting tints. I had it for seven years and it never showed any age.

I'm sure other tint has gotten better but if LLumar is anything like it used to be, I recommend it.

I am also getting my tints done this month. My local tint shop uses 3M. I'm deciding to go with either the color stable which is cheaper or with more expensive crystalline. I hear great reviews on the crystalline. Besides the heat rejection was wondering if one looks better (or cheaper) than the other or any difference at all. Curious what everyone has to say.

+1 on 3M Color Stable @ 35% front and rear windows. Looks sharp on my BWP 2012 TL!

The tint shop that I went has a heat lamp placed inside a box and each side are covered with different 3M films. The outside of the box is then rotated so I can feel how much heat was being deflected by each 3M film. I decided to go with Color Stable due to price and usefulness ( I live in PNW). Price was pretty descent, $325 compared to Crystalline which is $600.

I have 35% all around except the front windshield. The tints I have were ceramic because of the navi in my car.

i wouldn't necessarily exclude metallized tint. i have em on my daily and i have no issues with cel signal transmission. they do a better job of keeping heat, UV rays, etc than ordinary dyed tint but i'm not sure how it compares to ceramic. at certain angles there is a noticeable greenish metal reflection almost like foil. if you don't mind the color i think it can be a good (less expensive) alternative.

I think you should talk to the tint shop again because you either got misinformed, or ripped off. 3M Crystalliine doesn't come in 30%. 40% is the lowest.

It really depends on what you like. Dark tint really stands out, especially on a WBP or any white car. If I had that color TL, I would go with a lighter tint to keep it looking classy. You could also get 3M Ceramic tint all around, and use Crystalline on the windshield (which I highly recommend to protect the dash and speakers).

To start I'm a window tinted from the Chicago area. To be honest when it comes to tint you really get what you pay for. I currently use llumar window films since I love the color and since I'm able to warranty it for life. I've used Johnson's, suntek (stay away from the standar pro line), and solar guard which are all great but it all depends what you are looking to get. If your looking for best heat rejection go for ceramic but if your more about the privacy you go with anything but ceramic. If you plan on tinting the front windshield don't go darker than 35 or else you will have trouble seeing at night. My personal opinion try to keep all windows the same darkness to keep it classy. Here in Illinois the law is 35 all around if you want to have the front windows tinted excluding the front windshield so on mine I did a 40% all around including the front windshield which is a gamble I'm willing to take given only two officers in a five year span have ever noticed. Keep in mind there is gray areas to state law on this. Like in my area some suburbs require your tint to read no lower than 30% to give the 5% variance once the tint is on the window and other suburbs require the tint to read no darker than 35%. So to be on the safe side I did my TL with 40% so it can read 36% on the window. It all depends how different departments interpret the law. Hope this helped.

Suntek carbon CXP... awesome tint. Huper Optik makes some great ceramic tint as well. Both are fairly pricey on the tint scale.
