Question Trip Computer Reset feature (with refuel) question..

I've searched the forum, but haven't seen mention of the trip computer reset with refuel setting.

This is a nice feature as I like to track individual tanks of gas using the trip meter A (and not having to remember to manually reset would be nice).

Going through the manual (pg 102-103), the default setting is for the Trip A to reset after fueling. Although after having about 4-5 refueling stops, I have yet to see the Trip A counters reset automatically. I have to manually reset them.

Maybe there's something I'm missing or not doing, but I can't think of anything. I've checked the settings in the MID to make sure it's set to "with refuel", but still no luck. All of the refuelings have been a fill up, so I don't think it has to do with not enough fuel. I've changed the setting to "manual" & back to "with refuel" as well.

If anyone is familiar with this feature and has it working, I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks,

Stuart

Mine works every time. Are you sure the MID setting is correct? Sometimes you may toggle the settings without actually saving the changes. When in doubt, reset all options to default...I think the trip A reset defaults to the refuel option.

may sound like a stupid question but do you shut off car when refueling? not everyone does and that may have something to do with it. just giving it a shot.

I have checked and changed the settings and changed them back. It's definitely set for the refuel option.

After you refuel, and start the car back up, has everything been reset at that point? I know on mine after refueling, I check the trip A and it still has the cumulative data since the last reset.

It's just a minor annoyance & maybe I just have to have the dealer check out it. Was hoping maybe I was missing something simple

Thanks

Not a stupid question... I do shut off the car whenever refueling. It has the tech package, so no key in the ignition either.

it resets when you shift into D and drive, but not before then.

^ Mine's a 6MT, not an auto, so maybe once you start moving it resets?? I'll have to check it out.

Thanks again for the info.

Mine works fine most of the time but every once in a while, the system resets itself when there was no refueling.

I was only re-starting the car but for some reason the trip meter would be reset to zero. Other than this random incident, it works fine.

Mine works every time I fuel up but it can take a few minutes.
Last time I refueled and then drove off I immediately checked the trip meter and the system hadn't reset. It wasn't until a couple minutes later that it reset.

Yep, you'll see it reset as soon as you start moving.

Hmmm. We need to figure out exactly what causes the meter to reset. Maybe we can manage it a little bit.

On my car, also a 6-6, I have noticed that it doesn't always reset after a fill.

It has been figured out, and it's when the wheels start rolling. Are you saying that even after your car starts moving, it still doesn't reset? It won't reset by refuel alone, and it's a combo of refuel + movement that activates the reset.

Mine's only reset itself once, and for the life of me I don't know why. Next fill-up (tomorrow) I'll put the car into motion and see if it resets. I know I read in the manual that this is an option, but didn't pay that much attention to it. I hope it doesn't reset each time you press the refuel button, as I always open the gas door cover after washing the car to ensure that area gets dried out.

Thanks for all the feedback. Next time I refuel, I'll it a point to drive off first without resetting the trip A meter to see if it resets automatically.

I hadn't tried that before as I always reset manually before driving off.

Confirmed. As soon as I started rolling, the tripmeter reset itself to zero. Have always manualy reset after recording mileage/miles per tankful ... now I know for sure I don't have to.

Confirmed it works for me as well.

After fueling up, releasing the parking brake and starting to roll, the Trip A meter reset. Guess I wasn't patient enough previously lol.

Thanks for all the info.
