^Yeah, this is the only reason I'm thinking of having it done next year after it hits the 7 year mark.. But it has shocked me at the amount of people (Acura, Honda,Lexus techs etc) that have told me not to do it with so little mileage on it..

In all fairness "crappy" workmanship can happen at any dealer regardless of the brand. My wife had two MB ML350's in the past, a 2011 and 2012. And in some cases the workmanship, or lack thereof of the service techs sometimes had me shaking my head. So IME the brand doesn't really matter..

Had my 09 PIlot (similar Jseries engine) changed in 2014 at 115K miles. Still looked brand new and probably could have gone for another 100K.

^dont forget that there are other components at play, as well.
you have a plastic water pump.
and you have a hydraulic tensioner.

the water pump can lose it's seal (bad gasket) and or the plastic can crack.
the tensioner can fail and let the belt slip!

Change Belt roughly on time

Look up interference engine and timing belt failure. I'm not sure some people really understand what's at stake. And it doesn't take the belt to break altogether, it just needs to slip.
