New owner intro

Hello!

Just bought my first Acura and wanted to say hi. Got a 2013 Acura TL SH-AWD with the Advanced package, 27k miles..white with black interior...

LOVED the drive into work today. Was a bit overwhelmed at all the tech that's in this car...looking forward to learning a lot from y'all.

Thanks, appreciate it. Looks like a great community here..

any tips and tricks for newbies like me? I'm coming from a 2008 VW Passat - the TL's stance is so much more aggressive!

You will get used to the buttons. When using nav, put in zip code first, it finds the street faster. The ELS sound system rocks for an OEM system. Congrats on the new ride!

Thanks..will definitely try that. I put in the exact address last night on my way back from the dealer and it took me to an incorrect address. I chalked that one to outdated map data...

Congrats! Im sure you are going to enjoy it.

Anyway hope you don't mind me asking, did you check any other vehicles before you got this TL? What made you decide to get the TL?

Thanks.

I was looking for a full size sedan with AWD and reliability for under $30k. The TL checks all those. I might have stayed with a newer model Passat but I couldn't find one with AWD (4Motion) with a warranty plus I have always heard good things about Acura. I had short listed other cars (BMW 328i, MB C300) but I got to test drive the TL first. Never did end up going to test drive the others lol....

welcome to the group!

tip: if you didn't already know slide your side view mirror switch to either left or right when you go into reverse the mirror will auto tilt down to whichever selection you made.

Thanks! I saw that the other day and while I had known about it at the back of my mind...to see it was pretty cool. Not to mention very helpful!

The TL does not have auto folding side mirrors when parked right?

Quick question: I noticed the shifting in the first and second gears is not smooth sometimes. Do the 2013's suffer from the torque convertor issues as well? It's ever so slight and am wondering if it's me not having driven a TL before or an actual issue.

i have a '14 and it sometimes feels like a newbie driving MT..especially with low throttle. As with most honda/acuras the shifts for me are smoothest for me at mid to wot.

Same here - excellent shifting and power once it's beyond the lower gears. I noticed a slight hesitation as well but no crazy RPM jumps while in the lower gears.

I will keep a closer eye on it; literally just bought it CPO this Monday!

Thanks.

When you put the car into "S" mode (where you can use the paddles and it will hold it's gear), just be aware that the car will not hold 1st gear and will auto upshift to 2nd gear for you.
