Ethanol-Free Gas
Is anyone out there using it? It's popping up a lot here in Florida. The price was right, so I decided to give it a try. Car has been running like a champ with it! Mileage has gone down a little bit, but it seems to run much better...

It's all I use. Car seems to run better and I get better mileage (1-2 mpg).
It is a tad more expensive because of tax breaks for ethanol fuel. Thanks Uncle Sam.
You can find stations here: Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

I have been using ethanol free Shell 91 from day one (Canada). Occasionally when I can't find a Shell station nearby I use Pertro Canada 94. Shell makes things more quiet, than Petro Canada. I guess it's because ethanol in the gas ignites faster, so compression and timing may be slightly less than the ideal. But there are so many other factors .... I'd say humidity and ambient temp play a much bigger role in how the computer decides to deliver the gas in the injectors.

Since I just got my first nice car (bought the 06 TL just last week, used to drive around in a beater 95 Accord) I will most definitely be filling it up with ethanol free gas as much as possible!
Looks like in my area it's mostly BP stations and some Shell and some grocery brand gas as well.

I hope that they start putting more stations in Orlando that carry ethanol-free fuel. All I can find is 90 at the Race Trac by UCF for $3.69 last time. Some new Wawa's have it for $3.99

Just filled up today for the first time. One place that is somewhat close to me. Drove by on my way to another office and needed gas. Pricing was about $0.70 more a gallon and they only had 91 octane instead of the usual 93. I'm wondering how much of an mpg improvement I'll see.

Right now, I just go to watch or help friends with their cars. I sold my last drag car, but looking to build another one soon. Be out there for World Street Finals in two weeks...

Not sure why USA non ethanol gas is more expensive. In Canada, non ethanol gas stations are the same price as gas stations with ethanol. In fact, it's actually cheaper at Costco.

So in fact the "price" of ethanol gas in the US is likely more expensive than ethanol free gas but because of political lobbying the difference is made up in our taxes rather than at the gas pump.
It's basically a damn racket is what it is. Talk about a redistributio of wealth from the taxpayers to the corn industry.

Various tax credits and other incentives are made available by the U.S. government for the production, blending and/or sale of ethanol and ethanol blends.

Ethanol for gasoline is a scam if it comes from corn.
They use more energy growing and harvesting the corn than they save.
I'm not sure about ethanol from sugar cane which is also a huge and slightly different industry.
