Better, Cheaper Wipers from Honda!

I know, another wiper thread But this is a quick discovery that is going to save me at least 80 dollars a year!

My Honda Accord has the same design as the Bosh Icon wipers that we love, but it has replaceable rubber inserts! I had to replace the inserts on the honda and they were 7 bucks for the pair at my local honda dealer! I realized that they are the same length as on the TL (19 & 26 inches)! I swapped the wipers from the accord to the TL and they clean amazingly well! All you do is snap the clip up, slide the old ones off and slide the new ones on! So the next time I need wipers I have my alternative. Being in FL I end up replacing them every 6 months or so so that's 70 dollars saved on the TL alone since the icons are 40 dollars for the pair! Then I have the wipers that I would have bought for the accord! As well the MDX's driver side wiper is the same 26 inches long so I have a replacement as well for that!

I've ordered the wiper arms/rubber holder from my local dealer for my TL for 20 and 17 dollars! Here's a link to the part images and the breakdown:
Honda Automotive Parts

Part 17: BLADE, WINDSHIELD WIPER (650MM) 76620-TA0-A01 $20.16
Part 19: BLADE, WINDSHIELD WIPER (475MM) 76630-TA0-A01 $16.36

Replacement inserts:
Part 18: Rubber Blade 650MM 76622-STK-A02 $4.13
Part 20: Rubber Blade 475MM 76632-TA0-A02 $3.80

The Bosch Icon are installed, the Honda accord wipers are above. They are 95% similar, the honda one seems to have a larger "wing" area:

Not bad but..

an even cheaper alternative would have been to just buy the PIAA super silicone wipers. They would last you for 5 years or more.

my gf just got a 2014 TL and they have the same accord wipers, while my 2012 TL has the ugly skeleton wipers.

Just replaced my Icons, bought my previous set in 2010. Love these things. Curious about the PIAA's mentioned above though, maybe next time.

The nice things about the PIAA's, there won't be a "next" time. They will last you as long as you have the car. I had them on my old RDX for over 7 years before I traded it in.

No issues. But they are wipers not snow plows. Clean your windshield off and you will be fine with just falling snow.

That would be amazing, but the blades are rubber and temperature and other adverse conditions will alter the properties over time so I have to doubt they would last forever.

Probably just the inserts, but I'd inspect the other areas as well in case they are not at their best.

Depends on how long you keep your cars. Most people dont keep their cars for more than 7 years, so in terms of car ownership, I would consider that forever

So let me understand this, you bump a three year old thread about wiperblades for a 4G TL to talk about a satellite deal you just got for your 2007 MDX? I have to ask, why?

You're absolutely right. It was my mistake. A late night on forums, and clearly I was too tired with too many tabs open.
My intention was to inform others so that they could save if they were soon up for renewal (regardless of a hardball playing SiriusXM chat/call center person).
After looking at your number of posts and your age, I can understand why you were so vocal.
All the best

My age? Hmmm, trying to figure out what my age has to do with it; there are many younger folks here with more than ten times my post count.

This is the 3rd post I've seen in about a month that's resurrected an old thread with something unrelated to the thread. That's like, a double negative.

That's not a bad deal for a year of XM. I got a six month deal on XM for $25. Just sayin....
