4G side molding factory option

Still looking for a 4G. I'm finding some with side molding. This is on base FWD models. Was this a factory option or only aftermarket? Dealer said he didn't know.

This is a factory option/oem accessory that you can obtain through the dealership.

Man I hate those side moldings. Ruins the lines of the car IMO.

Yeah I agree. I took mine off a few days after I got my car

It's an accessory from Acura/Honda that's painted by Acura/Honda. It's not installed at the factory, but at the dealership before the car is sold. You can buy it from a variety of vendors that stock acura parts and accessories. About $160 last time I checked for the painted kit.

They definitely would help prevent door dings from careless people but they aren't aesthetically pleasing.

Different strokes for different folks. When we bought our TL my wife and I were going back-and-forth regarding the side moldings. Of course we ended up with them and we like the look, but I can see others saying it breaks up the lines. Keep in mind they do not serve much of a purpose other than appearance.

My MDX has more door dings than I can count and is going for PDR soon and getting the side moldings put on. PDR guy is going to want at least $500 to fix. What's better, $500 + dents for a while or staring at "ugly" moldings when you walk to the car for $150. I'll take the latter option any day, and it's not ugly since it's functional IMO.

But look where they are situated on the TL. Much too low and not anywhere near where door dings are likely to occur. As I said we got these basically for the looks.
