This deal is still going on. I wouldn't be worried about it.

I tried calling the 800-XMRADIO number twice before in the last two weeks and no luck. They kept saying I had to wait until my current TSX promo ends next month. They insisted it was impossible to have two promotions on the same account. (On a sidenote, I don't know if XM is outsourcing to India but it seemed like the two people I spoke with had heavy Indian accents) Anyway, I just called the other number, 1-800-929-2100, asked for the winback promo and he said "okay," asked for my payment info and we were done-- probably less than 5 minutes on the phone. Very easy!

Whoo Hoo! Forget all that gibberish you guys were writing about. I went the honest route and bam, I got the deal. Here's my conversation with the XM Rep...

Me - I'd like to activate the Winback Promotion
Rep - Ok, what promotion was this?
Me - The $60 Winback Promotion
Rep - Ok, great, I will add this to your account starting in June when your trial period is over. It will last until 06/2006.
Me - Great, thank you!
Rep - Thank you and have a great day!

So call 1-800-929-2100 and maybe you'll have the same luck as I did

Well, once they pull up your account, they'll see whether or not you have the trial period still, but I'm not sure exactly what qualifies you to get the promotion.

except the lady asked me for the promotion code but i said i didn't have it with me. then she just read the code to me and asked if it that was it and i was like "yea, something like that." then she charged my credit card and said it would start after my trial ends on april 12. woohoo!

It works like a charm. I also used the honest approach and simply said I wanted to take advantage of the "winback" offer. According to the people I spoke with there is more than one winback offer, so I specified $60/yr and I was on my way. I called the 800-929-2100 number and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Got some operators in Arizona and the only problem was that they were having trouble with their computers. After a little patience I was all set for a year.

Awesome thread!

My trial was not set to expire until 6/15/05 -- followed your advice and got the one year Winback for $60 effective 6/15/05 until 6/15/06!!! Great post!!! I was really worried since the new prices go into effect as of 4/1/05 -- and since it is just after midnight here, technically it was 4/1 -- luckily this was Arizona and time delayed... Hehehe THANKS for the Guidance!!!

I thought you went with that guys steps literally, ie. you said that you purchased a truck before but never applied the winback promo then, but you'd like to use it on the new TSX...

I haven't heard anything about the Winback promotion expiring on 4/1. I thought that was just the date that higher standard pricing goes into effect. Does anyone know when the Winback promotion expires, if ever?

I just got this activated this morning. HOWEVER, if you call 1-800-929-2100, they will tell you (2 people told me) that their computers are locked in with the new rates. That happened this morning around 10:00 am. They will give you the 1-800-XMRADIO number and tell you to talk to someone there. Call this number and take the earlier advice that triton gave earlier in this thread and ask to be transferred to the retentions department. The person that I spoke with before the retention dept. tried to tell me that I could not activate the promotion. I asked to be transferred, and the guy in the retentions department activated the promotion for me. So, you can use this despite the fact that the rates changed today, but you have to go through the retentions department.

Apparently, the rate available on the WINBACK promotion changed today from $60 to $77/year. However, the guy I just spoke to offered to credit me the $17 dollars back. Apparently, the promotion still reads on the computer as the "$60 WINBACK promotion," but the computer also now charges $77, so, because of the discrepancy, he gave me a credit. I guess it didn't hurt that, before I drew his attention to the discrepancy, I had also locked in the 5-year package at the end of the promotion, knowing that I could cancel it at any time and that those rates go up at midnight tonight. Incidentally, my 3-month free trial doesn't end until June 1st. The WINBACK starts 6/1/05. And I wasn't directed to a "Retentions Dept." It was all taken care of at 1-800-929-2100. If you want to try to make your case for $60 for WINBACK, I suggest that you call as quickly as possible. I now know why they call it "WINBACK." If you're good enough at working the system, you can actually win money back!

You know? A cool tip from my salesperson at Acura. He said that he tried to call and cancel once because his wife was trying to "cut back" on some of the expenses and they let him have it for $6.99/month.
Pretty cool is you ask me.
Unless he was BSing me. But he had already sold me the car... so i didn't see any reason for him to lie.

I just called right now and locked in my deal for $77 dollars as well. The guy was super nice, asked me if I had been on a message board.. and of course I said no. He even asked my what kind of car I had so I told him, but he still let me have the deal. No problems at all!

I just signed up on the promotion too! I already had the service paid for 3 months, so they gave me 3 months free then when that is up they will use the credit i have and only bill me the difference. However, they did say $77 for the year as they have recently increased rates. Hell, it works for me.....

Third time is the charm...

First try XM said I would have to wait until my trial offer expiration.

Second try was when rates were being raised and they said no...pay full price.

Today, I said give me the $77 promotion or cancel when my trial offer expires this week. Surprise! They came up with the $77 with no problem.

It works.

I called them up and told them I wanted to activate my Winback promotion as per my dealer.
The XM rep. asked me what my dealership had told me.
I said $77 for one year after my 3 mos. trial.
I now have 1 year for $77 effective 7/4/05 - 7/4/06

I've called 2 different numbers, spoken to 4 different people. Each time they turn me down saying my service has to lapse before I get the winback promo. This was after talking to a supervisor as well.
