XM Radio: How to Renew for $77 a Year

We just activated ours and all you have to say the dealer told me you have a special for 60$ for the 1st year. The promotion code is "WinBack"

Works great. 60$ for a year of sevice which is half price and you still get the initial 3 free months free.

I am new to XM and am still in my 3 month free trial. Seems like I have VERY limited stations (or maybe just don't know what I am doing). I didn't get any info on XM when I bought the car. Do I have to subscribe to get ALL the stations? Who do I call do get the $60/year deal? What do I need to do to start a subscription. Thanks, still not 100% sure if I will subscribe, just trying to figure out how to see all the stations really.

I realize that and have looked at it. My question is do you call ALL channels with the free trial? Also if anyone has experience with XM online, do you not get Sports channels with the online version?

There are 2 XM bands, XM-1 and XM-2. To switch between the two, hit the CD/XM button. You'll probably find the sports stuff on the band you don't have on now.

I like the $60/yr promotion--I've just had XM since Sunday night and already I'm hooked.

Can you use any service with the built-in satellite radio in cars these days? Or, are you limited to only "XM," "Sirius," etc.?

mjfurgeson,
Are you using the tuning knob to go through all the XM stations? seek jumps to different categories (decades, hits, country, etc), and ch ^/ch v only goes through the presets you have, so you have to use the tuning knob to get to all the other stations. I just got my car last week, so I'm using the 3 month trial and I get all the channels listed here: http://www.xmradio.com/programming/f...sp?sort=number

If you have navigation. the best way to navigate from one station to another far away station is to use voice command. For instance, if you are on 58 and want to get to 126, rather than scroll through all of them, just push voice command button and say XM channel one twenty six. So ive found... I dont think the stock XM is very intuative. The only two channels you dont get is the one with opey and anthoney, and playboy. wich i think its bullshit that they try to charge
extra for normal Talk show hosts. Also not all channels are commercial free. talk radio has tons of them. But they are still broadcasting via regular radio too.

I have Sirius in my Truck, the wife has the TSX and XM. I like Sirius because I am used to it but XM is the same just different channles than I am used to. I printed the XM guide and she set the presets so its better, she likes it.

I got this on my TSX, it was originally just for the TL, but if you just tell them you bought a ACURA, and tell them the dealer said it was 60/month. If they won't give it to you, call back and try it again, sometimes it takes a few times to get a nice customer service rep to help you.

I was just trying to put in the code and register online. I guess it will take a call to actually get it. When registering online it also gave me an "Unavailable Radio" error message? Any ideas why that would be? Does the radio have to be on or something strange like that? I got no XM info when I bought the car, is that normal?

I have only had the car a week. I got a 05 Navi. I have found that the voice control for the XM works best if I say the numbers by themselves. For example (because that makes no since) if want channel 124 don't say "XM channel one hundred twenty-four" say instead "XM channel one two four". The voice comand in this car is so cool, but it does miss understand me some of the time.

It will recongnize one-twenty-four too.

I find if you separate the commands with a very slight pause, it works well. For instance, say "XM channel", slight pause, "one-twenty-four". If you say them all together it can have a little trouble. This applies to all the different commands too.

One other thing to look out for is what mode you are in. if you press the mode button (at least on the navi) you can toggle between the 'channel' and the 'genre' mode. one allows you to scroll through all channels, the other locks on the genre, aka Rock or Country, etc. That way if you like a particular style of music, you can stick to just that music. Kind of a nice feature.

Thanks for the tip. I bought my TSX on December 23, 2004, and just received a letter from XM yesterday with the renewal rates. Thanks to this thread, I called them this morning and said I bought an Acura and was told there was a $60 special on the renewal rate. They renewed it for a year, starting in March, for $60.

I have an 04 Arctic Blue No Navi TSX.
Sucks for previous year owners that the new models are all set up.

What would I have to do to get in on XM Radio?

I called today to get this promo, the guy said i can still get it, but he said that I had to wait till my 3mo trial expired. I tried to tell him other people had it added to their 3 mo trial, but he said he couldnt do it. Needless to say he noted my account and said i can get it on the day my trial expires.

I don't mean to sound like a complainer, but I wish that the screen would show like a scrolling list of all the channels and what they are currently playing instead of just the presets. I love the car and have no complaints but maybe that is something they could improve on.

With the XM Comander in my Jeep I like that you can look to see what is playing on other channels while listening to another. I also like that it will tell you when one of your selected songs are playing. I miss that in the TSX.

I just called up and told the customer service rep that I had a promotion from Acura for 12 months of service for $60. He looked up my account and said that my 3 month free trial expires on April 21st 2005. He said he would start my 1 year subscription on that date and for $60 I would have completely paid for uninteruppted service until April 21st 2006 for $60. I put in on my credit card and its done!

Can you say great deal???

I just called to try to renew 1 yr $60 and the rep said no, should I keep trying?? I don't really use XM Radio that often, but if it's $60 for a year I would definitely keep it.

Called this morning and got it. Just said I had an Acura and that my trial subscription was just about over and asked if they were still running the $60 promo.

Better get in on this now, XM is raising their rates April 2, 2005 to 12.95/month. My trial is about to expire so I will try to get this deal in the next few weeks.

I just renewd today even though my 3 month doesn't end until March 31. Main reason being I was afraid they might discontiue it with this new promotions, rather switch now then risk not getting it for 3 weeks of extra service. Here are the steps to get it.

1. Call XM Radio at (800) XMR-DAIO
2. Press Option 3 for current subscriber
3. Wait...... this can take awhile
4. Ask to transfer to their Retention department
5. Wait.....
** This one is important **
6. You have to sound like you know exactly what your talking about, not that you read online about a promotion. Tell them you recieved a promotional letter with a "Winback" promotion. That you had called before about it but the rep you talked to before told you to call back when your promotion was about to run out before you could add this promotion because you can only have one promotion on, either or. Then tell them you would like to switch to the "winback" promotion.

This is what I did and it worked like a charm.
