Tsx Top Speed??? How Fast Have You Gone?
#126
Let me help you!
My fastest speed was 123 mph (in both of my accords)...I was going up on a slight incline, and I guess I was experiencing too much wind drag since I couldn't get my car to get past that speed. My TSX should be able to go faster than that, but I'm not crazy anymore

Right around 100 is the top end I've hit.
I had my stock '94 Integra GSR to just over 140 a couple of times and it only had 170hp! The top end was only supposed to be 130 - I wasn't going downhill so maybe my speedo was way off at the top end.

This is better than even a Lamborghini Gallardo, or even a corvette.
CD is a big deal, but it doesn't matter if the TSX has half the horsepower, that doesn't mean it goes twice the speed, its a exponential relationship between the two.
For example, in order for a Corvette to get to 250 mph, it would need another 500 horsepower, assuming the CD of the Corvette is unaltered, DRAG is almost always the limiting factor in top speed, besides those 155 mph limited German cars (Mercedes, Audi, etc).
If you derive the equation for the top speed of a car, using all the forces the car experiences, including the normal forces and the friction coefficient of tire vs. road (about .7 under acceleration), you will see the drag coefficient comes into play more and more.
Force due to drag=(1/2)(density of air)(velocity)^2(Aerodynamics CD)(Frontal area of the car)
With objects moving through fluids (air) this is always the limiting factor, for cars, drag is the most important thing.
Another example just to finish it off, the Subaru STI even with 300 horsepower, has a pretty bad CD (.43) which means, even though it has all that power, it only maxes out at 143 miles per hour (which is essentially the same top speed as the TSX).

On my last road trip, with a huge stretch of smooth abandoned road on the I-5 in California, I took my '07 AT to 120mph in 4th gear very easily. I was still accelerating at that point, but backed off because the scenery was moving past me too fast and It felt dangerous and uncomfortable. I have the Potenza 960AS with a ZR speed rating and the A-spec drop...these variables probably help high speed acceleration and stability a little bit over stock.

Only hit 100 and that was by accident. Went to pass a tractor trailer on a down hill slope. Ha, looked down after i had passed him and was like woah! Didn't even feel like it.

So he is looking at me and vice versa now I know he can hear my exhaust as I can hear his, so we continue to taunt each until we pass the construction and I know it is going to be on as soon as we break free of the traffic. Well Im in 2nd when we break free and I can hear his turbo wine. Then he looks over and gives me a nood and we just drop the hammer BAM the vtec kicks in. Anyone with an Injen intake can tell you it is loud as hell. He pulls ahead slightly half a car length at the most. He and I have a straight shot atleast a mile or 2. I mean we are rollin I stuck with him until I hit 156mph and that audi started to pull a little more but It was fun as hell. I made It to work in 7minutes

Got the ol' TSX up to 120 on the way to Vegas last weekend. On the 30 mile stretch of fwy from the california nevada state line to Vegas. I was following a 4cyl. Altima and a Caddi STS. The TSX felt great at those speeds. No complaints. The Altima was having trouble keeping up, that STS with the northstar was impressive. It had no problem accelerating away from us at those speeds. The ol' lady was pissed but I was having fun.

I like the straight away on I95-N after the 495 split off, and after the little cop hiding spot in the split in the median. you can hit some good speeds on that route that goes past the baseball field and Iron Hill area.
I have a NHP '06 5AT no-mods.

I'll go take my own tonight by doing the diagnostic thing. I hate being left out.

Drifting
Well me and my friend got it up to 135 (and climbing) out past Paso Robles on the 101 at like 2am, clear straight road with no one else around. Never again but it could have gone faster, it was about 6800ish rpm in 6th gear.

Have since tested with full GPS on board.. and have the topspeed saved.. 139 MPH.. and I have gone faster then that.. but had Microsoft Streets and trips which doesn't save speeds. was showing 150 on that..
