My 2004 SSM A-Spec TSX Totaled By A Drunk - Video

Well, I haven't been to active on this forum outside of the for sale section. But I had somewhat of an interesting occurrence the saturday before last and I figured I'd share with you all.

My TSX was totaled as it sat innocently on the side of the road awaiting my return. Some idiot in an old mazda protege veered from the inside lane all the way into my car, another, and a motorcycle before flipping on it's roof. Nobody was injured in the accident, including a baby who was in the mazda.

The moron didn't have insurance, a license, and had arrest warrants so he went to jail. My insurance is doing their best to make sure they fork over as LITTLE as possible for my destroyed car. The offer stands at 5 thousand dollars, which isn't even enough to pay it off.

Anyway, I was able to obtain surveillance footage of the accident and cut together a video of the incident. A little RIP tribute to my TSX. I'll be making another with more of my TSX before the accident, but this is something I threw together on sunday. Don't mind the title of the video. Play on words.

Wow, crazy video and nice music. Good thing your car, the other car, and the bike where there to protect the benz.

As for insurance, that blows but damn, over $5k owed on a 2004 TSX

I don't know everyone's getting on the guys case for owing over $5k on an '04 TSX. Obviously he purchased it used and we don't know his situation as far as how long he's had it or how much he paid.

Anyway, sorry for your loss OP. Sorry but the video made me chuckle with the music and transitions, but it was well done. Hopefully you won't get too screwed with the insurance payoff.

That is terrible. Very sorry to hear. Good luck with the insurance. The car is ~11 years old so I'm sure the payout will not be that great. On a side note, the video made me chuckle with the music and flow of it. Good job with that

I'm going to move this to the TSX section so that your car can be memorialized by its peers...

Thank you! Didn't think to go to the TSX section. I haven't been on these forums in so long. Just figured this would be appropriate for sharing. And yes, I didn't expect much from insurance to begin with but 5k was a swift kick to the balls.

As for everyone wondering why I owe on it, I was one of those Civic owners that wanted a nice daily driver about 3 years ago, so I invested in the TSX. Paid 10k for it just before the value plummeted. Kinda like I did buying a house in 2006, just before the market went to shit.

I was considering buying an 06 Evo MR after the TSX, but my luck the value of those will fall as soon as I take ownership and the Evo community will have my ass

Thanks for the love regarding the video! They say laughter is the best medicine. Went from damn near crying after watching my poor car being destroyed to crying laughing listening to Whitney sing to it. RIP to both.

Been there too man, that's why I was telling everyone to lay off. It's a shame you have to deal with the negative equity, but maybe it's a good thing in the long run. Get past this and then hold onto a car for a while (hopefully avoid unavoidable accidents like this one) and you'll get back on top of things. It worked for me after many years of rolling negative equity into trade in loans. Good luck sir.

Thank you for the kind words! I have a couple other cars that are actually paid off. The funny thing is, my integra has sat for the past 4-5 years and has been just fine every time I've taken it for a spin. The moment I actually NEED the thing, it breaks. Brake hardline running to the left rear wheel sprung a leak on day two of this whole ordeal. Now I'm reduced to my dads' 86 Legend!

Anywho, if anyone would like to check out any other pics of my TSX before the accident or pics of my civic/integra, my instagram is @kansastance

Damn...IG is taking over as the mode of communication and sharing.

Sorry for your loss, man...yeah, cars like to be driven! That Integra sitting for so long was waiting to let you down as revenge...

I'd fight to have them get you at least what you owe...then you can break even and start over...or just drive the integra! 3G TL is very attainable now too...

Loved the video... and

Sorry for your loss and well put together video. That Whitney Houston song gets me everytime.

Oh, and it seems like you are going viral. I was on my Carbuzz app and they picked up your story. Not sure if this is a repost on here, but her's the link:

This is very, very sad to see. At least the driver seems to only have done damage to property and himself.

It's crazy how this video took off. I'm guessing subject matter had more to do with it than my editing. Everybody loves a good car crash. I literally cut this together in 15 minutes. I have videos on my page that I spent a couple days on that only have a couple views!

Thank you for the kind words!

Finally settled with insurance. Payout was 7500 including the buy back, if anyone was curious.

There will be a part out in the near future. Just need to make time to disassemble the car.
