Interior trim question
My mod bug is in full swing, I just bought a Brand-new 2008 Acura TL-S Switchblade key off of HeelToe.com that is already milled down for pre-2008 Honda ignitions for $150, and I'll be having it cut and programmed come Monday when it arrives.
I'm not even close to done. Among a classy, soft white LED interior conversion completed with DIY interior and exterior door handle lighting and those juicy custom rear taillights I posted a week ago and illuminated door seal trims, is my next visual mod, darkening the interior wood trim for added class!
I'm not looking for carbon fiber overlays or solid black/red/red/silver overlays either. I'm looking to just 'darken' or 'tint' the faux wood trim pieces so they're not so orange-colored. I want to be able to see the grain still so I thought, why not use window tint! It tints the glass, so it's slightly darker but still see through. But then I also don't know how pliable that is. Anyone have any suggestions?
So far I've only came up with a few things, but I don't want to somehow ruin the trim if it comes out shitty.
-Use window tint.
-Find a darkened transparent overlay.
I'm not sending them off to have them hydro dipped (which would be ideal but costly) because the HVAC control trim does not easily come off separate.
Pics for demonstration. First one is stock.

Congrats. I had an 08 PWP over Parchment, and always thought it was a very classy interior.
Acura was very proud of that orange woodgrain, so much so it named it "Firehorse." It also made a woodgrain trim kit that covers the center console and window control covers on the doors. It also made a matching woodgrain steering wheel. PM if you want to see photos.
I like your idea but removal of the trim pieces would make the cover wrap a lot easier.

Yeah I'm not going to damage it. It's a nice color, but a bit too bright and glossy for my tastes. I just want to tone it down some, hint some type of clear darkened vinyl.
I just bought my TL switchblade key today form HeelToe and will have it cut and programmed at Acura tomorrow so the interior and interior ambient lighting can wait a few more paychecks. I just wanted to get some help on deciding what to do.

Only thing about the key is I wish the remote was a bit stronger and reached further away. Other than that no regrets!
Waiting for my piano black door pillar trims to come in, installing those, then hunting for a roof spoiler.
Then adding the LED interior and exterior door handle and puddle lights with full LED conversion.
Might pick up a friends 20mm and 25mm wheel spacers he had on his ILX.
Then Si mufflers.
Then a slight drop (only 1-1.25 inches) with Tein S-techs maybe?
Then Nexus 7 in-dash with the Navi bezel utilizing stock non-navi radio.
Then might get some authentic Ultinons or the Osram xenarc 66240 cbi cool blue intense HIDs. I really love the blue and pruple "rainbow" cut off on my one authentic Ultinon. lol
