2005 TSX Immobilizer Green Key Flashes - Won't Start

I've had this intermittent problem for the past, almost 7 years. It hasn't been a big problem until a few weeks ago.

When I try to start the car the green immobilizer key light just flashes, on the dash. The car will crank but it won't start. Sometime I can get the car started after a few attempts, and now other times I have to wait 3+ hours. Time seems to be a factor as if I wait a long period of, perhaps let the car sit over night, I have a much better chance of it starting. In all cases, if after I put the key in the ignition and the green key light does not flash, the car will start. If flashing, then no start.

I brought the car to the dealership and their "best" mechanic insisted it was the immobilizer. They replaced that and it is still happening.

There seems to be some problem with the immobilizer, or the communication with the ECU.

Anyone have any suggestions, or have experience the same?

Thanks!

Suggest trying spare key if available or purchase a replacement key/s.

Immobilizer system not discussed in service manual so difficult to suggest more detailed possibilities.

good luck

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, new keys were made, and old keys reprogrammed with the new immobilizer. All keys have same problem.

W/O details of immobilizer system, you will have a difficult time. Only thing I can suggest is to investigate things that would set alarm system into "disable starting". Possibilities are hood switches, window break sensors, door open switches, ?

good luck

So, I still have this car and the problem still persists. A little bit of more information. I received the Immobilizer "brake" code from the dealer. This is a sequence of 5 numbers that are inputted by using the emergency brake. This allows the car to be started while bypassing the immobilizer. However, the car still does not start! This leads me to believe that it's not an issue with the immobilizer.

Thank you for your feedback TexasHonda. I'm not sure of to go about troubleshooting those items you are talking about.

Is there anyway to read the status of the security system to see if it's some sensor tripping the system?

Thanks for all your help

Try replacing the Imobilizer Reciever Unit at the ignition lock. No recoding require when replacing this part.

The system only has 5 components. The transponder (key), reciever unit, indicator lamp, pcm, and fuel system (control by pcm).

Thanks for your suggestion. The immobilizer ring was already replaced. Did not solve the problem.

Is it possible that the fuel pump is going and the blinking immobilizer light is just a symptom?

Thanks

^ LOL, why didn't you disclose that to begin with?

"I brought the car to the dealership and their "best" mechanic insisted it was the immobilizer. They replaced that and it is still happening."

To save time exactly which parts have been changed with new oem parts?

If the green imobilizer lamp is blinking the it's not the fuel pump. It's a defective part and/or a communication problem-connection.

Lol, sorry about that.

The immobilizer coil and a new master key. Those are the only two items that were replaced with OEM components.

Thanks

If the Imobilizer/pcm have not been change yet then that would be your next step.

Go get a used one from a same year/model and have the dealer install it. Bring all your keys too so they can program it to the new pcm.
