Help with Starting Problem

I'm a newbie to this cite and as an acura owner. Bought my first used 1997 TL about two weeks ago. Overall, I think this car is solid. It has drives well and has enough power. Recently though I started to notice some minor problems. One of them being difficulty with starting the car. There have been several times now that the car would not start the first time I try. Like the engine kill is engaged. But when I switch of and then on again, then the engine would start...hmmm. There has also been an occassion where the engine would just not turn. Almost like the car is out of gas or the battery i drained. My TL has an Alpine alarm installed by the previous owner (engine kill is one of the options). Do you think the alarm is the problem? Is this a common problem for the TL?

Does the starter turn and not catch? When this happens, is your fuel below 1/4 tank? I find mine takes between 3 and 5 extra turns before it catches when the fuel is low. It usually turns about 5 times.

The symptoms for a dead battery are different from those of a car with no gas, so I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Aside from keeping the gas tank more than 1/4 full, are there any fix for this?

I'm curious to know if an MSD starter and new main power cable will eleminate the slow starts on my 2009 TSX.
