I guess know one has any experience with changing the HID lights. The dealer wants 1200.00 bucks they say the they have to replace the igniter and ballast.

Go tell the dealer they can suck your thumb lol. Are both headlights dead? And how do you know the ballast is bad? If I were you, I might buy the bulbs and ballast online, $300 max on a good quality set. If you don't know what you are doing, go to retrofit source dot com and email the guy and ask for help; make sure you tell them OEM replacement, they are pretty good with HID related. Hope that's help.

Yes, the dealer is a joke 3.5RLv-tec I pretty hand so I've some research and ordered a set of light online and will change them myself. If that works I wont worry about the igniter and ballast because I wondered how all of that could be bad at one time, anyway thanks for the feedback.

Hey Jeep92..So you just swapped the bulbs and left the ballasts alone? I guess what I mean by that is u replaced the factory bulb with the Phillips bulb but are still using the factory ballasts?

yes. you only need to change ballast if it went bad.

D2S bulbs are PLUG AND PLAY and work with your factory ballast. However, if ballast are dead, you'll need to replace ballast. I suggest going aftermarket from The Retrofit Source Inc if you need to.

The mechanics of changing the bulbs are very simple. A couple minutes per side. MAKE SURE you disconnect the battery first. Those ignitors carry 25k volts.

Eldest928 the bulbs aren't aftermarket, the Phillips bulbs are what's in the car from the factory.

I am in the same predicament but my low beam bulb on pax side comes on and then goes out. Could this be temp related? This has been going on for months now. Dealer wants 1000.00.

I thought if bulb was bad it wouldnt light at all. Id appreciate any guidance.

Maybe a bad connection. See my "headlights" thread.

The ignitor is $145 or so at oemacuraparts.com The job is very easy just be sure to disconnect the battery. There are no manuals as far as I can tell.
