My 2002 Acura Rl 3.5 wouldn't start when I tried to leave the store the other day. I had it towed in to the house and it started up later that evening, so I put fuel injection cleaner in and filled the tank up and drove it around for 30 mins. Upon coming home I noticed that I lost some power going over a hill. The next morning I attempted to start the car, I heard the fuel pump engage but the car still wouldn't start. After that I didn't hear the fuel pump again when I attempted to try to turn it on. Is it the pump or relay switch under the dashboard.

Check the PGM-FI relay under the steering wheel.

Thank you for the tip! my cousin came over and self diagnosed it as a dead fuel pump, but I just don't believe that's the problem since so many acura owners have had the same issue

yeah its pretty common for these years of cars to have this issue. A simple reflow of the main relay should help it along. Got a soldering iron?

lol I'm not that confident to mess with the soldering iron on a car. Maybe for messing with an iPhone, but not a car. Thank you sir

It's pretty simple, you remove the relay and check all those solder joints for cold joints or joints that have cracked. It's a much more macro level of soldering than on an iPhone. I'm shocked you made that analogy

Dang replaced the switch but still crank no start. I guess its time to replace the fuel pump. Its located in the trunk under the carpet directly behind the pull down slot in the seat. Easy replacement right?

Are you hearing the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to IGNITION I?.

Nope not hearing a thing bud, which sucks because I just knew my fuel pump was good.
