About purchase a 2002 RL, Need Advice!
Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forums. I have recently taken interest in a 2002 Acura RL.
I will be viewing the car tomorrow and required some advice from Acura owners. I am from Calgary, Canada and the number of second hand RLs here for sale is very limited.
This is the car that I wish to purchase.
2002 Acura RL Sedan | used cars & trucks | Calgary | Kijiji
I want to know about any major problems I should look out for, This car will be used mostly for daily driving, no more than 100kms a week.
Im a previous infiniti owner and have taken interest in RL after reading nothing but great reviews about the vehicle.
According to everyone on the forum, does this seem like a good buy for the price? What should be the true value or asking price for a vehicle of this sort?
Cheers.

I had my mechanic look at this car today. He says it needs new rotors and the transmission oil is leaking (two drops or so).
The SRS light is on and the current owner told him it had been an accident or fender bender on right passenger side wheel, not sure yet how severe this was.
I really like the car, when I drove it i felt it needed new rotors which is a component part so im not too worried about it.
The transmission bothers me though, the gear shifts during my drive were very smooth and not jerky.
My mechanic says it needs about 2000 dollars CAD work to fix the car completely if he buys the parts.
I would really appreciate some feedback from the forums since I really like the car but the transmission, SRS light (on dash) bothers me.
Cheers.

I desperately need a response as I have yet to make an offer, I just have a feeling that this car might be an issue for me.
Also, I wont be driving this car more than 100-200kms a week.

The car is very reliable. Flush and change tranny
Fluid with honda liquid. Rotors, go aftermarket.
Were you able to ge a maintanance schedule
From the previius owner? As far as srs light, dont know whst to say. I picked up an 03 6 months ago, and it has been great. I had timing belt/water pump replaced, and fluids flush at radiator and trans with honda oil. The car is very quiet and comfy.

I love mine. Bought it two years ago with 216k miles and have put another 50k on it. The leak is a non issue other than the effect it will have on your garage floor. Rotors are to be expected sooner or later. The SRS light might be something, might not be. It probably is a problem with one of the seat belt switches, which have a lifetime warrantee. Have your dealer diagnose it. If it's not a seat belt, the diagnosis will cost a hundred bucks or so. Whether or not too have it fixed is up to you. If it is the seat belt, the diagnosis and the repair will both be free.
