99 RL glove box water leak
Hey guys I have a 1999 RL and I am having a water problem it is dripping all over passenger side under glove box. rug & mat completely soaked when car is parked and it rains. I dismantled the glove box and took out cabin filters and then ran a gallon of water from the sunroof down passenger side windshield and when I checked inside, white plastic cabin filter housing was wet, I also checked sunroof drains and they seem to flow well & I also removed cowl everything is fine windshield seal is perfect no debris anywhere , car only has 80 k & is super clean & well taken care of . any info would be greatly appreciated....haven' t been on in quite a while . hope all is well in the community.Last edited by GSARL

Honestly it seems like you checked everything it could be. 1.sunroof leak 2.windshield lower cowel leak 3. windshield seaL
Only thing i can think of is possibly the body seam that runs on either side of the roof. Maybe check for rust or something odd?

Thanks, The water seems to be coming from the inside of the cabin filter air box . I have glove box apart and ran a hose from the cowl down and saw all the way inside air box, front vent water coming in, is that from a poor cowl seal? or do you know if I might have to take apart cabin filter box to fix. It didn't seem like there was any way to get to it under the cowl. Thanks your help is greatly appreciated.

There is a factory recall on this.Acura put out a bulletin to dealers on the fix.My car does the same thing. It involves removing the right fender and applying sealer to a seam on the body structure.

Do you happen to have a service bulletin number or anything like that?

Does anyone know if we can get the dealer to fix this issue for free as a recall? I'm pretty sure the water leakage causes build up of humidity in my car (especially with the hot Florida sun). Which had led to alot of the interior trim and plastics in the car to deteriorate and unstick over time.

A service bulletin is issued when a manufacturer discovers a problem affecting a particular model and it's issued with the procedures to to fix said problem. You didn't mention what you drive but I will assume you have a 1998 to 2004 Acura RL if you are on this forum. The sad answer is no they won't fix it. A service bulletin would be covered if you car was under warranty but not after. A recall is mandated by the government to be issued if the defect is safety related and usually they do not have expiration dates.

I removed the windshield cowling and found a huge mass of pine needles, leaves, etc. under it on the passenger side. The mass was thick enough to be taller than the lip surrounding the fresh air input above the cabin filter. I think water was wicking its way into the cabin filter compartment. Once I cleaned it out thoroughly my water problem went away.
