Did you figure it out? How were the results?

I've never used Seafoam because it seems like it could wreak havoc on the O2 sensors and catalytic converter. I don't know if I want that running through the turbo.......

I haven't, I don't know which line to disconnect.

I don't think it will damage anything, if the dealer is willing to do it, then i bet its safe.

Question - why are you looking to use it? Specifically, what are you looking to clean? If you say intake valves, know that the RDX engine is port-injected and that fuel flows over the intake values all the time. You can dump a can into your fuel tank before a fill and get pretty much the same effect, but also just making sure to use a qualify fuel with good detergents should negate the need for Seafoam completely. Tapping it through a vacuum line makes more sense on a direct-injected engine.

Jdrum1: Not necessarily seafoam but they will use a some chemical to do the fuel induction service. I'm willing to pay for the service but I'm scared they may not do it.

What kind of fuel economy are you getting? Also let us know how many miles on the car, and what maintenance items have been done that you know of. Again, feeding it through a vacuum line won't do much more, if any, than just dumping it in your fuel tank right before you fill up. But maybe there is something else contributing to your bad fuel economy that we can help identify (common items include bad spark plugs, clogged air filter, etc).

I think they'll flush your fuel system, and your wallet

Unless you're having issues, there's no need to pay the outrageous prices dealers charge for this (and if you're actually having problems, a fuel system flush probably won't fix them).

Every so often I add a bottle of Redline Fuel System Cleaner to my gas. Polyether Amine is the active ingredient in good fuel system cleaners, and Redline has the highest level of any of the off the shelf cleaners. Today's gasoline is much more pure than in the past, and modern cars burn it more efficiently, so an occasional additive probably isn't really necessary.

I'm not saying Seafoam doesn't do some amount of cleaning (I know plenty of people that swear by it), but I think that given the drama associated with running it in a vacuum line (smokes out the entire neighborhood), I'd say the placebo effect is strong with it. It looks like it's doing a lot, while I'd guess most of what you're seeing is just the result of the product burning (mostly petroleum).

I've also read where people had increased oil consumption after using it. The hypothesis is that it loosened deposits, and those deposits scored the cylinder walls (and possible rings) before exiting the combustion chamber.

That said, report back if you give it a try. I'm great with evidence that proves me wrong!

tomtwtwtw: Im getting about 15mpg with mix city and highway. The care has 110K miles. All the maintenance is up to date. I have it done at the dealer. I replace the air filter. Had the spark plugs changed at 103K miles.

jfrum1: I bought royal purple cleaner and just added to my tank, I'll let you know if i get any differences.

Since i got the car back from the recall. I had the car parked for about 6 months
