Goodbye RDX

Guys, I've owned 3 Acuras, 2 RSXs and most recently until now a 2011 RDX. Had tons of fun and memories with each one of them. Currently, I am waiting on my 2015 Infiniti Q50S AWD, which I ordered and will arrive at the dealership either tomorrow or the day after. I have an appointment to pick it up this Saturday. It's hard to part ways with Acura, but I have made up my mind and want a sedan now. I've been looking at the TLXs to stay in the Acura family, but the TLX just didn't seem like a right car for me now. I'm sure that at some point in the future I'll own another Acura, but for now I have to say goodbye.

Congrarts on the new car

Post pics when you get it

At least the Q50 has exhaust tips, and makes glorious noise

Sorry to see ya go.

Is it me or is Acura is turning into Lexus emphasizing comfort/safety/utility to an older demographic? I can see why you went the way of Infiniti, they seem to have kept their sporty image and performance edge over the years.

I was just going to say this. Lexus has completely changed it strategy with the introduction of the F Sport. Lets not forget the LFA.

Post pics though as the Q line is impressive and has a TON of HP for the money.

I was thinking of Lexus of old with the ES, GS, and LS land yachts that out sold Acura from 2000-2012. Acura was a more sporty in design, performance, and handling on average compared to Lexus during the same time period. Lexus demographics and now dying off and they are trying to get younger buyers with the their new performance line up. Acura has taken a step back and started grabbing the comfort over performance folks with RLX, RDX, MDX, TLX and ILX. Just wondering is Lexus will take the same hit down the road as Acura did moving to more aggressive styling/performance?

Infiniti seemed to have kept the same formula; which, I like about them.

I agree; it looks somewhat like Acura and Lexus are trading places.

There isn't a dealer for either in my area, but Lexus is pretty common among the older oil executive crowd. It's pretty rare to see an Acura.

While I liked Acura's previous business model, I can see the issue in that the one's drawn to their styling don't have the income for a luxury performance car.

We were Honda/Acura family always

However after our last integra gsr in 1993 , we moved to Lexus

Sc300
Sc400
Ls400
Ls460
Ls600hl
Ct200h (worst Lexus out there)

I haven't bought an Acura all these years. However the CT200 was horrible and after one year and 28k miles I got rid of it and got the TsX wagon. The wagon fits my need with 2 little kids. Nothing else in Acura line up excites me

I know after the wagon we will either get ctsv amg e class wagon or go back to Lexus for a F model

Not to get too off topic but..
The GS was always their attempt at sport and was\is greatly popular.

My summer car is a massively modified 2nd gen GS430.
The platform is sport and some people take it to what is called VIP style.

Exactly how I feel about the Q50S - sporty and performance oriented + the looks. In my opinion after Acura discontinued the RSX-S, RDX turbo, most recently the TL 3.7, which were all about spirited driving and performance oriented, Acura will lose a lot of its younger potential customers.

So I've been driving the Q50S since Thursday. Picked it up with 9 miles on it. Now it has about 170. It's still in the break-in period until 1200 miles, so I can't really step on it, but what a difference. Instant power, extremely responsive and very stiff due to the sport tuned suspension. The 19 inch rims with run flats don't help making it softer, but I love it so far, very well planted car to the ground and around turns. Head turner as well because of the sporty styling and white exterior.

Lexus ES - Comfort and Design | Lexus.com

I too have made the switch over to Lexus. I still have my 2011 RDX Turbo but have extended warranty on it. I'm selling my MDX as I've recently purchased ES350 Crafted Line(essentially F series for ES line). Ive been a loyal Acura customer for long time. I'm just over Acura I guess as I'll be switching sides. I started initially wanting a IS350 which I liked the RWD but can't have in cold weather. And really small inside. AWD did not like. So ended up with FWD ES350. My main reason for switch was Lexus better reliability and Acura's torque converter.

Congrats on you new purchase!! The Q50S is a long way from and a completely different car than your RDX and RSXs.

is the middle part touch screen and the top screen navi?

just like the tlx/ilx hate the no cover on cupholders. reminds me of cheap American cars from yesteryear, one size fits all.

Both screens are touchscreen the navi one on top and the one underneath that controls everything. Plus you have 3 basic buttons for "audio", "menu", "climate". I can view navi directions on the smaller screen at the center of the cluster where you see "fuel economy 18.1 mpgs" in one of the pics.

There's so much other cool stuff like the personal assistant that's there for you 24/7. The assistant will basically do anything for you from sending directions to your car to making restaurant reservations, booking you flights, waking you up in the morning....plus so much more. You just can't ask for legal advice.
Other cool things are: there's so much you can control from your smartphone; you can even set up valet alerts if your car moves from the spot you left it, driving zones, speed limits of you let somebody drive it... You can send addresses of places of interest from your home computer straight to your car. In car Facebook, Google search and many other apps. Performance apps will show you performance related stuff - even similar to the GTR how many Gforces the car is pulling...

So far I'm impressed, even though I haven't pushed it past 4k rpm because it's still in the break-in period until 1200 miles. It's obviously completely different from the RDX, which I loved because it was such a reliable car in any season and on any road. But the sound of the 3.7 V6 and that unique Infiniti exhaust sound put a smile every time I press the gas pedal. It's just so smooth during acceleration.
