Looking for some input on whether this is normal or not.

Every time I start the car (going to work/leaving work) and go into D, I hear a clicking sound that appears to be coming from the engine area. It happens a few seconds after going into D after reversing out of the garage, as well as a couple seconds after going directly to D.

The other thing that I noticed is that within 10 seconds or so of being in D, it feels like something is letting off the brakes. If I have my foot slightly on the brake pedal, I can feel it adjusting/moving.

Are these things normal?

Just curious, how long has the engine been running, and are you using the a/c? The brake assist uses engine vacuum, so sometimes when the load or rpm of the engine changes (i.e. a/c compressor kicking on, fluctuations during the engine's warm-up cycle) you may feel a slight variation in the pedal feel. Of course, that doesn't explain the clicking...maybe someone more familiar with this car has an answer for that.

Also, possibly a stick parking brake?

If the vacuum level has lowered since the last drive, the pump makes some noise. I have hearing loss, and hear nothing but the engine myself - however, you can open the hood, and have someone else start your car, and try to better determine the location of any noises just after startup.

Thanks for the replies. To answer a couple questions:

It's from a cold start - either in the morning or in the evening when I'm headed to or from work.

The difficult thing about that is the sound only happens when going to D and moving a bit.

Appreciate the help all. Was just wondering if this was normal. Will probably give Acura a call to see if they know.

I'm digging up this old thread because have the exact same clicking noise as described in the OP. Mine is a 2010 2WD with 100k miles. Does anyone else have this noise?
