Finally getting my white girl repainted
All next week my cars going to be in the paint shop. No cheapy Maaco job either. They're taking out the front/rear windshields. Cutting out the small rust spots. Reinstalling the windows w new gaskets. Ordering a new front bumper. Fixing all the dents. It's gonna be base coat white then clear with some blue pearl in it. While it's down I'm gonna have my 19's powder coated with a white pearlescent. It should look like a brand new car when I'm done. After that all that's left is repairing the horrible seats and getting a new catalytic converter. I'll post some pics when she's done.

I got lucky actually. I stripped and tinted an ext cab ranger for the body guy. He's doing the body work for the window tint job. I'm trading the rest out for some stuff I didn't need...a handgun and some stereo equipment. His normal starting price for any car is $3k. His work is really good. I'm stoked to have a decent looking car again!!

And my friend does powder coating so that's not going to cost me anything. I've been in town for almost 30 years. Owned my own tint business for about 15 years. That's afforded me to make a lot of connections in the car world. Another friend of mine just rebuilt the head(had a burnt exhaust valve). This car needed so many things to be right. And it's almost there.

Also while it's at the paint shop I'm getting my fenders rolled. Then when I can warrant the cost I'll get some drop springs. I've had coil overs and really don't like the way they ride. Plus it's $1k for coils. Or a couple hundred for drop springs.

Wow, body work for tint sounds like a pretty sweet trade. Should look pretty good when done!
It's great to have skilled friends.

It's supposed to be getting color tonight or early tmrw!! I'm excited too-I feel like a kid counting down the days until Christmas. The owner of the paint shop's dad passed away right before I brought the car in. So the funeral and clearing out the house set the job back a few days. I called him and told him to suck that shit up and put his big boy pants on and get my stinkin car finished!! J/k. I told him I understood and the delay was fine. This was the first time my car being painted was delayed for a legit reason. EVERY time I've ever had a vehicle painted it ALWAYS takes about a week longer than it's supposed to. But at least they aren't cutting corners or rushing it!! Should be posting pics of the finished work soon.

I should have it by Friday and will upload some more pics of the complete car w the powder coated wheels mounted. I wish I knew how to do upholstery because holy crap they want an arm and a leg just to recover two seats...$50 seat covers never sounded so good until I started pricing gettin my front seats redone. I'll probably get the seat covers then save enough for the full Katzkins set and do the entire interior.

Which service? I've traded out for all the work paint-wise. The powder coating on the wheels was done by a friend so all I paid for was the powder coat($20). I traded out the sandblast work(on the wheels) for a tint job also. So I'm basically out some time/tint/$20 for all of it. Otherwise the ugly girl would have stayed ugly. I am hopefully picking the car up later today. Note to everyone else:don't try to paint your busted bumpers yourself or the paint guy will give you hell because his new paint will fisheye and end up being sanded off and repainted.

I've only taken one pic cuz it's rained the entire time after I picked her up. Once the sun is out I'll be able to take some decent ones and the pearl will shine. Ps the mirror tint got removed today. I hated it. I'm just gonna go back w 3%. Nice a dark. Blocks out like 65% heat. Not bad. Looks better too.

Yes. My windshield is tinted as well. And thx I'm really happy with it. I have to take it back in a couple weeks to be wet sanded and buffed but even with some small imperfections it still looks 1,000,000 times better than it did! The pearl is very subtle too which is what I wanted.

Wanted to see how she looked with the mirror, but the limo tint looks great, you need to get some clear corners and lose the amber.

So now it's about 4 weeks after the car was painted. And it looks like total shit. I was happy at first because it does look better than it did(at first). However now there's yellow bleeding through on almost every panel, and I've noticed massive runs and debris all throughout the clear coat. Not to mention he missed about 4 dents on the car and got overspray all over the hood latches, trunk seal and inner fenders. He didn't get all the plastidip off the front bumper so there are spots of paint that have just peeled off. It's BS. Even though I traded out for the paint job, the items I traded still had value. And I expected a quality job. He's told me 3 times he is going to take care of all of it. I'm giving him another week to get my car in and fixed or I'm blasting his crappy work everywhere I can.
