check engine light and NYS car inspection

Hi, i live in NYS, and they require a system diagnostic to pass car inspection, my check engine light is currently on and i will not pass. the problem is catalic converter malfunction and o2 sensor, not exactly sure what the exactly codes were, but i know thats the problem with it. another thing that came up had to do something with the tranny, the guy at the carshop didnt know what that code was, just that he knew it had something do with the tranny. my question is, is there a chip or module that i can get that'll turn off they check engine light so i will pass car inspection? They dont do smog test so im clear there. one in a while, the check enine light will turn off for like a day ot two, if that happens, can i take that test and pass? another question i have is what are the prices for the o2 sensor, catalic convverter, and what is that tranny code it is throwng and how much to get that fixed, ive replaced the catalic with a straight through so kil the noise it made when i drove, so i can do my own labor, Thanks.

To clear all codes, you can disconnect the negative battery terminal. But they will know if you do this. I bought an OBDII tester from Autozone for $99, with this you can scan and read the codes and choose which codes to erase/clear. If you know it is a CAT or O2 sensor, then you will have to literally park around the corner and use an OBDII tester to clear the codes out. Dont let them see you do it, because they will kick you off of their property and will not pass you.
I know $100 is alot, but if you have a bunch of miles on your cl, you can expect the CEL to come on every now and then. and YES i know you can just drive up to autozone and have them check it for you, but by law they are not allowed to clear the code out.

If you replaced the cat with a straight pipe, then you can't disable your o2 without bypassing it

Yes, go to autozone... find out what the code is... get it fixed! Try slipping the guy a $20 and tell him to erase the codes (write them down first)

Would this catalytic converter work?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-C...spagenameZWD1V

it doesnt specify whether it actually does any filtering or if it has an o2 sensore, im just hoping someone recognizes that specific brand which is DEC part number HON1654, THanks. and i have sent an email asking the seller if its a direct replacement, but have not gotten an answer yet, thats why im asking here.

take the back-up radio and ecu fuse out for 10secs, that should reset your ecu for a little bit

resetting the ecu or deleting the codes with obll does not work for me. my friend had that shit and he deleted it for me, when i got to the shop, he told me to drive it for like another 20 minutes and come back, with in 5 minutes, the light turned on again. the perculiar thing is that 3 years ago, when my check engine light came on, it shows code 67, transmission, and o2 sensor code, now, it shows codes p137, and 139, which is o2 sensor at bank 1 sensor 2. today, i got it deleted by the obll, that was when the guy told me take it for another 20 minutes and the light came back on. but, i went back there anyways, and i passed. so i went to autozone to see what codes were being thrown, and it was code 139, like before. i asked the guy why i passed, he said it was becuase they look for emmisions error, but doesnt o2 sensor have to do with emmisions?

I actually dont know how the ecu works in terms of cycles, maybe deleting the codes, and letting it run, some of the codes may come back, some may not, but drive it enough where you can get it inspected but at the same time not too long where more codes would appear. i would also go to a place where they wont rip off the sticker before the inspection. the place i went to actually tested it first with their shit before they actually hooked it up to the computer, either to save them time or give people a chance of not ripping off the sticker first. NYS does suck though, we get all the stupid laws and restrictions with driving. required front plates and noise ordinance from the car bugs me too.
