TSB 16-057 - Review

Hey everyone, I recently had this TSB done and here is the outcome of it. 97% of the vibrations are gone there is still a small hint of it but going to 70-75-80+ its way better than it was before. The rear of the car feel more planted to the floor as well, almost like a stiffer suspension. Here is the catch once a passenger sits in the car with me the vibration comes back slightly which means there is still a load problem and may be a revision to this tsb later. overall I'm pleased the car is way smoother.

Had the tsb done on mine as well and it is significantly better. There was a discalimer on my service report though stating that "per acura engineering, although significantly improved, vibration may still be felt on certain driving conditions".

Mine is at the dealer right now getting the TSB applied.

With the tires swapped to the Michelins, most of the vibration was gone already, but at some highway speeds there was still a slight vibration, so thought I would get this done based on initial feedback from folks that it helped. The dealer said mine was the first TLX they've had in for this TSB. They weren't even aware of it until I sent a copy to my service advisor.

Will update with feedback once I get it back and take it for a spin.

I havent the chance to drive it with a passenger but was looking forward to testing it after i read your post.

Was also thinking that maybe the slight vibration left is due to vcm?

My car was also the 1st one to get this tsb done at my dealership.

Mine was the first as well, it's not the vcm because it only happens when there is a passenger in with me. Try it out and let us know, if this is the case then there will need to be another tsb to correct that one lol.

Got the car back on Wed and had some time to drive over the holiday weekend. The TSB has removed whatever limited vibration still existed at highway speed.

There was a slight vibration at specific speeds that would cause a drink in the cup holder to vibrate and could be felt in the seat or pedals. It was slight but still there. Now that vibration is gone. A water bottle in the cup holder doesn't resonate anymore.

i agree it is much better than before, not perfect but usable. i think that slight vibration i have as well and it has to do with the vcm, im actually looking up the VCMmuzzler to see if that will eliminate it.

I have a 2016 TLX SHAWD and experiencing the same vibration issue. Dealer proceeded with the TSB 16-057 and although it improve a bit, i still have the issue when driving at speed between 110 and 120 KM/H. Not acceptable on a car that you paid 45K or more. I have a based Civic that i paid less than 20K and never had any issue with it.
Anyone else still having issue or have their problem solved.

I am from Mtl, Canada

Hi Tardym,

where did you have the work done? I'm also in the MTL area and my dealer (Acura Gabriel) told me that some of the parts are back-ordered... I'm very impatiently waiting for this fix.

In your case, has the vibration at least reduced or still as bad as before the fix?

thanks.

Hi Chris,

The work was done at Gravel Acura on the metropolitan in St-Leonard. Yes the parts were backorder and I had to wait 2 weeks for them to receive the parts, but the work took them only 3 hours. Yes the vibration reduced about 50% , but I am really unhappy as I did not buy a 45K car to have a vibration even a very light vibration, this is unacceptable.

Thanks

Join the club, mine's from there as well. Surprisingly I haven't felt the vibration problem, at least one thing is correct with my 2015. At this point the only thing I can do is laugh about it and wait to move on.

Acura will cry though for my next purchase, need to work hard to make some current owners stay with them.

I'll echo the same comments of the OP. I noticed a slight vibration when driving on really smooth highways at about 70 MPH. I would not feel it on any speed above or below, and I would not feel it on most highways. The vibration was enough that I could see and feel a slight vibration in my hand if I placed it on the passenger seat while unoccupied. I assumed it wasn't VCM because changing to Sport+ (which is supposed to disable VCM) did not change the vibration.

Went to the dealer on 12/13/2016 to get 16-057 performed along with the 4-wheel alignment that is required after the TSB is performed. They required a technician to verify with a road test, and I was concerned that they weren't going to feel it since it was rather subtle to begin with. Fortunately, they felt it and approved the TSB to be performed.

I was the first one to have that TSB applied to my TLX at that dealer, so I had to wait an extra day for them to order the parts. Like the OP, I'd say about 97% of the vibration went away. It's hardly enough for me to even feel anymore. I'll chalk the remaining 3% up to the crappy OEM tires.
