Question Remote Start installation question

I've moved recently and will no longer have a heated garage to park in. This spring/summer won't be an issue but I'll probably be here into winter and well a warm car makes for a happy life. So I am looking into the remote starter for my TLX. Reading the instructions it is pretty straight forward and I have the necessary tools and know how except for the HDS setup bit. I'm guessing this is a special unit that only the dealers have to program the key fobs?

If that is the case can I still setup the remote start to use with the AcuraLink app? If not and I need to get everything programmed does anyone know about how much that's going to cost (rough estimate).

HDS stands for Honda Diagnostic System.
I'm assuming you need the HDS to flash or program the key.

call a dealership to find out how much one charges to program a key to the remote start using the HDS

I remember reading a thread somewhere several months ago where someone installed the remote start module themselves, and then took it to the dealership to get the keys programmed. Probably the best thing to do

I have done the install, and yes the dealer had to program my key fobs.. Took them half an hour, and they charged me $69.99 to program the fobs.

Not bad at all! I was hesitant about making this a DIY project because of the key flashing part. Was the work difficult?

Not in the least bit man.. If you are mechanically inclined at all, you can get this done very simply. Just make sure to call your dealer to set an appointment to get the remotes flashed.
