Reasons why I won’t drive my new TLX
I think there are many like me who look for reasons NOT to drive their TLX instead of reasons why you should be driving your TLX. Below are some reasons why I won’t drive my TLX.
What reasons do you have for not driving your TLX? This is probably why nobody sees anyone else driving around in their TLX.
- Just had it washed and weather looks rainy
- Just had it washed and weather looks dusty
- Just had it washed and there could be some puddles from last rain
- Supermarket parking lot have their spaces too close together and I’m sure to get a door ding.
- Coworkers requested that I pick up Meatball Grinders. And lose my new car smell? No way!!

Well since you asked:
- the weather is nice and I can walk there in under 45 minutes
- traffic is bad and parking is a headache and I can get there using public transit likely in less time
- my relative/friend offer to drive their Tesla S, MB E63 AMG, or Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

- transmission bangs and slams into gears
- the picture on my back-up cam looks like a acid trip if it's sunny or raining
- when I select drive from reverse the whole car clunks
- when I take a left turn from a stop it sometimes slips the gear and just revs

Why do you still even own the car? This thread went from positive and friendly to depressing real quick!

If he owns one….
Anyhow, It was raining and thundering today, so used the Altima instead. I did spot clean the exterior in the garage. Showed the car to my neighbour's brother who owns a BMW 335 and he was impressed.

My only issue is that I feel like I'm putting too many miles on my car already. I have had it a little over 2 months and it's already time for an oil change and I'm over 5k miles. 😢 I already told myself I plan on finding a cheap car on Craigslist to use so I don't keep driving the TLX so much.

...I don't own a TLX but if I had one, these would be the reasons I wouldn't drive it:
1. Roads are wet
2. Limit my mileage
3. Too much construction
4. I don't want to attract too many women....I already have too many lusting over me

I only have one car
and I am glad it's the TLX.
If I decide not to drive it, I can't go anywhere.

1. If I keep driving it, I'll be reminded just how much I love driving it.
2. If I keep driving it, I'll realize just how good the mileage is compared to my CTS.
3. It's black so it will get dirty.............hell, it gets dusty just sitting in the garage so........
4. Nevermind, I love driving it too much so I'll just keep driving it.

-It'll never be worth as much as it is right now- getting a 2nd cheap car to drive makes no sense as you have to register and insure it. Drive on and enjoy it. Otherwise, it'll depreciate (which will happen with or without more mileage) and then eventually, someone else will own your nice, low mileage TLX, and at a big discount from new. Drive the damn thing! It's like seat covers over nice leather seats- you'd be keeping them in pristine condition for the next owner despite the fact that you bought the car for you.

^^ I never really thought about the seat cover thing. I don't use seat covers, but I do usually keep a seat colored towel over the passenger seat so if I put items on the seat it won't get dirty or possibly damage the leather. This will let me easily remove the towel when I have a passenger, but keep it protected without being obvious about it.

^^ When I have a passenger is when I put a towel on the seat as the odds of getting dirty increases (wink wink nudge nudge)

^^ Why am I not shocked that you replied to my comment like this? I'll have to start putting weather related disclaimers in my comments from now on.

My main reasons are:
1) Going to pick up mulch/dirt/lumber etc at the Lowe's.
2) Taking the grandkids somewhere - the little munchkins are too uncivilized to ride in there yet
3) If we're going on a bike ride - we have an old pickup truck that we can throw the bikes in. Not going to see a bike rack on this car!
4) Taking dead bodies etc to the dump. See #3 - we use the truck for that as well.

- possibility of hail storms.
- don't want to park on the side of the roads / meter parking.
- too much rocks/debris bouncing around on the highway. I already have 4 noticeable rock chips on the bumper and fender. And a tiny one on the windshield. I don't even follow closely to cars/trucks.
- don't want to put too many miles on it yet, especially with a 50 mile round trip commute every day. (Reason i keep my beater civic around).
- idiotic drivers around me.
- just want to keep it clean for a while.

I agree, that was my plan when I got the RDX, figured the flat folding seats would come in handy. Then I woke up and realize that at my age, my imagination is wilder than my action
