Production Date via VIN

Is there a way to identify the production date from a 2015 car's VIN? Also, what production dates to avoid the troubling 2015 TLX transmissions I've read about? Thanks!

As for what to avoid, look at the Vin ranges for TSB 15-040. Those are the ones to avoid.

Well if you can see the car, you can get the production month and year from the center pillar sticker

Depending upon your definition of "troubling", some would say to avoid 2015 TLX's.
Others apparently don't like the way even a "properly functioning" TLX shifts, so they have either avoided the car or in some cases have sold it.
Yet others don't have much of an issue post-software fixes with the 2015 or are content enough to continue driving it.

The issue with the TLX's transmission isn't catastrophic failure or anything from what I've seen, so again, it all depends on what troubles you. I'd suggest driving one for an extended period of time if possible and pray whichever one you end up buying shifts the way you want it to.

Keep in mind that there are two drivetrains for the TLX. If you're interested in the 4 cylinder, transmission ills for any year are tiny.
