I really want to like the TLX

My wife really didn't like the TLX either and she got a 2015 Accord Coupe, EX-L V6. She loves the power of the V6 and all the goodies it has also. Plus she paid $28.5 with a monthly payment of only $324 so a good deal and very happy with her pick. By the way, this is our 22 Honda or Acura we got during the many past years.

vinnier6....I was a 4G owner too (and do not own a 5G TL (or 1G TLX)).
That being said...I think to say that the TLX is under equipped compared to the 4G is misleading. There is more technology and features that the TL would not even offer.
I will give you that the TLX has a small drop in HP but at this point, nothing a regular person would perceive behind the wheel. The debate about the dual exhaust tips has been discussed since the ILX/RDX were introduced so we all knew it was coming. This is purely a cosmetic feature and MAYBE we'll see a sportier variant (styling wise) that will re-introduce the visible dual exhausts.
Overall, the TLX is a BETTER equipped car than the 4G, BETTER priced than the 4G now some will discuss the quality of material and the choice of dual screen versus the plethora of buttons but at this point, this is the direction the industry is going and there is little Acura could otherwise, we'd be sitting here and reading reviews on how behind the times Acura is with the antiquated buttons/knobs *lol*
I will be honest with you, the only thing that is holding me back has been a few of the issues regarding the trannies and I know that some updates have been made to improve the shifting, and what still remains as MY show stopper which is the throttle response (my TL felt "snappier" than the TLX)....I have had limited test drives so I reserve a final judgement until I get to drive another one in a couple of months.
...Oh and the lack of manual (so far).
My 2 cents....

Because there is so too good information here, lots of discussion. Fly by's do have not time or interest in reading them and want to show off their new found revelation!
It is a variation of "those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them". Over and over again.

I think under equipped isn't the right phrase. Usually under equipped refers to features.
With that said, the TLX V6 is comfortably faster than the TL 6AT. And you can always get wider and more grippy tires.

Here is my recommendation. Borrow a TLX from your local dealer for a day. Take a nice cruise on the freeway. Drive to dinner in the city. Throw it around a corner. Gas it on the freeway and let rip. I promise you... you'll love it. Dont just do a 5 minute test drive before making a decision.

This may need a new thread but I'm not sure I can start one since I haven't posted in a while. I had a 04 TSX that I loved, but unfortunately it died too early. I'm looking at getting a TLX later this year (May-August). I've liked the car on my brief test drives and the value for money just can't be beat. Is there any info on updates to the TLX for the '16 MY and when that might come out.
With some of the issues being had I'm debating whether to get a '16 and hope they're all fixed or get a '15 after the '16s come out and get a better deal. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I expect all the problems will be resolved before the end of the year so buying a '15 should be safe, and the '16 will include some minor additional features. If you can find a '15 after the next year model is introduced you should be able to knock off a few hundred but your selection could be limited.

I guess I'll have to wait and see what the additional features to see if the money savings is worth it to me. I really want to get Fathom Blue with the espresso interior which isn't available. I'm hoping they might make that available for 2016. Any idea on when they'll announce features list and start production?

Small engine, less HP , shinny exhaust tips ???. Any company will be be the happiest with these pile of shortcomings. If that the case , the TLX is a great car.

Isn't it possible to put exhaust tips on the TLX, since that is one of the biggest complaint here?

^most people; dont want to modify (especially with body mods that involve cutting) their brand new car.
so, technically it could be done, but why not just buy a car with exposed pipes, if that's your thing.
I'm really enjoying the new Mazda CX-3 and it's exposed tail pipes!

^^ What'll be really funny is when someone influential (styling wise) also removes the exhaust and it becomes "a thing", everyone will have to copy it. It's probably then that Acura goes back to exposed pipes.

Next thing you know, Acura will be putting black circles behind the wheel spokes to hide the brakes

Guess I should tell my daughter she needs to sell her Cayenne or cover the exhaust because some guy on an Acura board thinks his TLX is setting trends on exhaust pipes.

People want what they want. I agree with the OP. I really wanted to like the car because on paper it meets my objective checklist. But emotionally I would have never gotten attached to the car. I'm too much of a car guy to buy something that I can't feel that emotional tie to. It's better for me to spend more money to buy the car that turns me on than to have to make two purchases in twelve months because I regret the first one.

You can tell her anything you want, that's your prerogative. Trends change, some people prefer traditional styles, other go with the flow. Maybe the trend is changing, maybe it will stick and maybe it won't. That is the beauty of the market, there is usually something for everyone.

When I first got my 2010 TL, it was the worst car ever. Ugly!! The 3G was the bestest!! The circle continues.
I personally love the TLX now. It's better than my 4G in every way.
