Going from 2015 9 speed to 2016 8 DCT

Yeah, I just leave it in Sport, only way to go! However, in mountain driving I use Sport+. Then you're in for some real fun!

So after spending 9 days and 348 km with my new 2.4, I am in a better position to comment on my initial post:

- a non-push button transmission which functions like our other vehicle and allows my spouse to more easily drive my car when necessary. (I may miss the look of the electronic tranny shifter). I love the shifter, and can rest my hand there again
- a new colour scheme to change it up - white with expresso leather; Love my old combo, love this one as well!! I do find the black vs grey plastic door trim and B pillar covers show the scuffs more so, particularly from retracting seat belts. Other than more careful "placing of the belt clip after undoing, I'm researching good protection options.
- did I mention less shifting anxiety Nuf said
- saving a few bucks on gas and payment with 4 more years of warranty and Acura Link free again for a year; And dodged a $250 service on the 3.5 that was due
- still having all the other features - technology, look, driving dynamics, quietness, fit and finish, etc that I enjoy about the car for a good price. Fit and finish is excellent, bass seems improved, Touch Screen has some more options for Audio


I am pleased with how quiet and smooth the 2.4 is. The transmission is truly paired nicely with the 2.4, the same way a good Malbec goes well with Angus Beef. Given that the 206 HP is only 5 more than my previous 2012 TSX, the difference in quickness and smoothness is noticeable, no doubt because of the 8 DCT.

After getting a 2016 TLX V6 loaner, I was glad to get back to my 2015 TLX DCT.

I think car models should stick with one engine and one transmission.

Most luxury would be fine with 2.0 l turbo and 8 speed.

Things like pano roofs and other items should be options

I don't disagree with the idea of a few more options, although Acura keeps production costs and therefore prices prices reasonable by packaging options, unlike BMW, for example.

However, I do think that offering a 4 and a 6 with mated transmissions makes sense in order to appeal to a greater number of buyers. Perhaps a turbo 4 becomes a third major engine choice down the road.
