Get ready for your 11 speed transmission

Interesting - an 11 speed DCT (or multi clutch as they call it) if done properly should give you some nice performance and gas mileage - but at what point do they just punt on it and put CVT's in all their cars?

On that note - my wife just bought a 2016 CR-V which has a CVT and I have to say after driving it around for a bit yesterday the CVT is better than the one my 2013 Accord had. At least it's programmed better. That said I didn't do any spirited driving but around town it was very nice.

Good catch!! Looks like it will be 33% better than the dual clutch transmissions!

I have test driven the Civic and Accord with CVTS and agree that Honda does a nice job with programming these transmissions to minimize low end "lugging" and perform very efficiently.

At what point does the increase in gears actually cause more parasitic loss than benefit? 11 gears seems obnoxiously ridiculous. Rather than go to 11 gears, why not just build the best cvt possible? The curent issues with cvt's is their inherent rubber bandy-ness in terms of quick on-off power where they simply do not react like they should which makes the power delivery unpredictable in my experience.
