Everybody loves the TLX
I've owned my BWP TLX for about 2.5 months now and I get compliments on how good it looks everywhere I go. (I have the Aero and aftermarket wheels) The first time I pulled up at the park where I play ball, all the kids ran up and hugged the car and said they loved it. My college age buddies say they want to get one when they start making money. I get "nice car", "nice looking car", "great car", "cool car" compliments from random people at the mall, supermarkets, car washes all the time. Just today, one of my co-workers (who drives a 2015 Camaro SS) walks into the office and says, "who's white Acura is that in the front? It's badass!". My cousins who are all car enthusiasts (they drive S2K's, EVO's, IS 350 F) say they love the look of the TLX.
Sometimes it seems we do more bashing of the TLX and Acura's design then we do complimenting it. In my 2.5 months of driving, everyone loves the TLX . Happy driving!

Eh, I don't like it how it looks
but at the end of the day, it's your car. as long as you like it, who cares?

I agree - the beak is still ugly, the body is OK and the tech isn't keeping up and the quality is starting to suffer but that is just my opinion. I'm sure there are people that would disagree with me and they are certainly entitled to think differently.

I must be one of the only ones who think the headlights look too narrow, vertically. They look kind of squashed.
The insides of the headlights are very nice. But yeah.. Every time I see the TLX, I think it should be wearing the RLX headlights. I know. Call me crazy.

You're crazy. The RLX headlights are huge. I'm not a fan of the double stacked jewel eyes either.

I dont like those RLX headlights... too many lights smash into a small casing...
I also own my TLX for 2 months now .. I dont get as much love as OP does, maybe if i get the kit and wheel upgrade, but i do get a decent amount of complements...
I agree with OP, we're busy looking for things wrong with the TLX we forget to appreciate the beauty it really is.... others who can't afford this car wish they can have it.

The Consumer Reports reliability rating for the TLX effectively killed off the TLX as being a worthy Honda. Also massacres the resale value.
Of course, owners and hardcore fans will come out to disparage the CR reliability ratings, but the fact is that Acura had been the beneficiary of these same ratings for decades.

Null and proud of it
I just don't really get the TLX...
It looks nice and has good engine choices, and even SH-AWD, but still, it just feels like something you don't touch...
Maybe it's the interior, but I tend not to like new interior designs latly...

as you can see, there is no qualms about the beautiful design.
as your experience echoes this, with the various comments and compliments you get.
its not the design ppl love to hate....its the direction acura is headed.....

I like the way it looks, or the potential of it. Currently I can't stand the way my car looks with the 2.4 OEM 17" wheels and stock ride height... I love the way 19"s and a modest (1-1.5") drop looks on it though. Love some of the cars forum members have posted with those two changes. I have wrapped the chrome window trim in gloss black and that made a big diff to me, now to figure out what to do with the grill (paint body color vs wrap black)

I don't love it either
its definitely not a bad looking car... But it doesn't stir the emotions like some other cars do. The a-spec kit does leave much to be desired though. Seems like an after thought that was glued on.
But then again, when I do see a TLX on the roads, my response is never "OMG, kill it with fire!!!" Like it is whenever I see the 4g TL. I do find myself looking at it, as it drives by. Its nice. Just not "I need to spend my money on this right now" nice.

What I don't understand is how Honda and Acura as a whole still haven't figured out how to minimize the 4x4 look. There are plenty of other cars out there with a much smaller fender gap, right from the factory, and as far as I know, none of them are anywhere close to driving like a car with lowered suspension.
Its like honda prides itself on the 4x4 look

I did love mine when at first then as the "new" wore off and the honeymoon was over, I slowly began to notice she wasn't what I thought she was, she started doing things that irritated me. She started acting like a bitch so I took her in for a few therapy sessions. When therapy didn't work, I filed for divorce.
She did remarry a neighbor and I have to see her strutting around, looking hot. As hot as she is, I still think she's a bitch!

I also don't "LOVE" it. I liked my 4GTL better. That car I loved. I kind of regret getting rid of it. The TLX is nice enough, smooth, good Engine, and I did Love it when I first got it. But after some seat time, the Vibration, and the Transmission has really started to irritate me. I don't have the same feeling for it as I do for my second car, the Infiniti Q50 we have. We have had it for 7 months, and every time I get in it, it's a love affair. That car I Love and look forward to driving all the time. My mother-in-law recently just purchased a 2016 Honda Accord Touring V6, and as much as I hate to say this, I actually really think it drives better, and the touring V6 with the stock 19inch alloys and spoiler and overall exterior of the car looks better than the TLX. The only thing missing is the AWD, which really is the only thing I feel the TLX has over the Accord. If I had to re think my purchase, I would opt for $35,000 (Canadian), top of the line loaded Honda Accord Touring V6. More gears doesn't always mean better. The Accords 6spd Auto does just fine.

Anyways, the TLX is a very good looking car. I get more compliments in this then I ever did with the Accord touring and I had ever accessory on that and my TLX simply has mud flaps...lol. The car doesn't photograph well at all though. It's really odd. In person it's handsome, nicely sculpted. It pictures it looks bland. Weird. I'd still like to tame the beak, and I'll wrap mine in black I think. Otherwise as someone who had a touring Accord - The stereo: while the interface is almost identical, the sound quality is a HUGE difference. The Accord stereo is harsh as @#$$, and zero bass. Probably the worse stereo I had in any top model Honda. Road noise in the Accord was much higher. And there's no comparing SH-AWD power to a FWD in ANY conditions. My V6 Accord would slip and spin everywhere. But the tranny....oh Acura how you messed this up so bad is beyond me.

I can't seem to edit my last post?
Anyways, I forgot. There are so many little things the Acura has over the Accord, the more time I spend in it, the more I realize it was the right decision...even if the tranny is horrible. I'm only 5 weeks in though so that might change. It's just better built all around. Every button, every surface, every panel (I ran wires for a dash cam so I got to see and compare some of the stuff you don't see underneath the plastic vs the Accord). The extra little interior lights are nice touch, the arm rest - omfg I missed a good arm rest as the Accords is awful, the seats the list goes on. But the Acura Accessories are overpriced, and almost tacky.

I love it. It looks very similar to the Maserati 4 door.

If you had to purchase now would you get a TLX 4 cyl Tech or RDX AWD Advance? I know the RDX is more expensice but it has a 6 cyl and many features not available on a 4 cyl TLX. The RDX is also cheaper than TLX 6 cyl SHAWD. I have test driven these and I HATE the ZF 9 speed and electronic shifter.

I traded a 13' Accord Touring V6 in for my TLX. Had 35000kms on it. I did l like the car, but it was horrible in the winter and where I live that's 6 months a year. Having had AWD cars before I just needed another. I did try to trade my 13' Accord for a 16 Accord V6 Touring, but Honda wouldn't play ball and at the end of the day, I would have been in the hole financially on a car that still didn't have AWD - and it did have 30 series tires on it which around here is a BAD idea. So, I ended up in the TLX. First Acura for me. Rebates, low interest rate, Honda loyalty discount - better deal. I walked away with a little lower monthly payment. Figure that out. V6 AWD Elite. But its a new 2015, and sure enough the tranny issues are there, gear changes from 2-3 are often bad, seem worse when temps are cold, and the 110-120 wobble is off and on. The "Honda wobble" I've had on other Honda's, been a Honda owner forever, and if you got it, good luck getting rid of it. I had a 2010 Accord V6 EXL that was horrendous, and not fixable - got rid of that with 38000kms on it. My 2013 had it as well, but nowhere near as bad as the 2010 or TLX. Got a 2008 V6 coupe in the family, my fathers, same thing even after upgrading wheels/tires.

So to sum it up, I still think the TLX is a great car in many ways, i guess there is two major aspects that if Acura were to fix, the car would be perfect and that is the Tranny & Vibration issue.

I love the exterior, it looks larger than it is, I just wished that it had more aggressive wheels.

Nothing like an initial positive post to slowly but surely spiral the other way. As for the tranny and VCM vibration, they are no doubt acquired tastes. Or switch to the 2.4, as I did. Love the tranny and rear wheel steer and sporty feel of the car. More than enough power for most .

Without going too negative, I'll just say that my 2015 SH-AWD TLX is my first Acura purchase. I've had two Hondas previously, as well as a Lexus, a Toyota, a Mazda, a Ford Explorer, and various beaters when I was younger.
I had my 1991 Ford Explorer for 13 years and while it eventually had mechanical issues after 150K miles, it had no rattles or other problems, and especially not months after purchase.
I had my 2007 Lexus for 9 years and 109K miles and it was in the same shape as new. No rattles or other major problems. Needed a water pump after 78K miles, but that was it.
The Acura has needed a replaced transmission, new tires, various new electrical components. While I can chalk that up to "getting an early production build" or "getting a lemon" what is hard to accept are the little rattles and noises that are starting to show up.
The quality of the Acura is just not up to par. It's hard to love a car with just under 7K miles with all these issues that I've had 8 months. Had I not totaled my Lexus, I would have happily kept it another 9 years. I loved that car. I cannot see myself "loving" this Acura in a year, let alone in 9 years. What a shame.

I love the look of my TLX... I can't get enough of it. I'm clearly biased and it is also my first "luxury" level car ever but I don't care. It has also treated me very well and hasn't given me any issues. Guess I got lucky with my VIN.

Im a smart owner that appreciates quality, coming from a 335 this is a major disappointment. Everything is kinda half assed. The nav is garbage, transmission is terrible, the back up camera is terrible and most of the other tech sucks too, ... I could go on. I would tell someone to buy an loaded accord and you will get the same car. The TLX is a jack of all traits and a master of none.

Actually, except for some first gen growing pains, Acura got it right with the TLX.

Arriving in the TLX is an event.BMW sport ute drivers and Benz drivers seem to scope it especially hard where I live...so much so my girls say "Daddy we are being stalked again".
TLX....ultra cool ride.
