Debadge Car

Just want some fellow member input

I have a 15 TLX sh-awd adv in grey as shown. Im strongly thinking of debadging the "tlx" and "sh-awd" but NOT the "A" logo. I think it would look classy this way. As shown in the photo its like what I did with my old 2001 TL (also added a fake type s badge hehe). I want to bring back the memories I have old ride

Why I am hesitating. Since its a new car, I like the name TLX planted on it so other TL and TSX drivers know what it is. I also like the sh-awd badge, cuz well, I payed the extra money for it might as well show it off. But in reality does it really matter? 95% of drivers on the road wont care, and 99% of other drivers probably have no idea what the heck "shawd" is and probably think its a dealership emblem or something. Boy would I hate to have a "PAWS" emblem if I owned a rlx

So what I imagine is just the "A" sitting back there. And maybe plasti dipping the A red (exactly like the photo of the white 4th gen tl i found) just to be unique a little bit and MAYBE put a type s badge on it exactly like i did on my black 2001 TL like shown

Opinions...thoughts....would a red A in the middle be cool or kinda weird? I know many people put red honda emblems and it kinda stands out. I dont like looking stock.

If anyone can photoshop what Im asking that would be super!

Do NOT do this! It would look really cheap IMO.

I think debadging it would looks sweet!!!

it would keep people guessing as to what car it is.

plus, I debaged all of my cars and I just generally like the clean uncluttered look

essentially what you want to do is call the the TLX something other than the TLX and hey, it's your car and you can do whatever you please.

I personally wouldnt want to pose, or pretend to call my TLX what it is not.
it's not a type-s, nor can you rebadge it a Honda, as they dont make these cars in Japan.
But that's just me.

you can do the red honda badge if you want!

Debadge: YES!!!, Plastidip/Type S Emblem: NO!!

To be honest with you, I debadged my 2G RL, and that actually started most conversations I've had with people about my car. The conversation starts one of two ways:

"What is this car?"
"Nice RL!!"

And in scenario 1 it's always a nice surprise to see their reaction when I tell them it's AWD!

This.

It also helps when detailing your car. No emblems in the way when polishing or waxing. No emblems to tape off.

Personally, I'd put an RLX badge on it, just to screw with the general public

And if you do get a ticket, go fight it and be like "yo, I don't drive no RLX!"

that's because you probably left the Acura emblem...

should have replaced with a Honda one and you would have been safe.

In all honesty I don't get the de-badgeing thing. I think it makes it look like you took the car to a bad body shop who screwed up and didn't glue the badge back on after they fixed up the car. Yo.

tell that to the cars that DONT come with emblems. lol

the only reason why we have badges is to differentiate between models and submodels.

for those high end cars that ONLY have one model, they dont need emblems or badges.

I'm sure it would also save the company money....Acura did it for the 4th gen TL. Dropped the badges... at 10 cents per each badge, it can get expensive for 500,000 cars.

When I see a de-badged car I always think it must have been rear ended and when repaired the body shop failed to install all the trim...

I have thought about debaging mine for a cleaner look too. There still will be no question that it is a TLX, though...

The moral of this long and winding story is do what you like. Personally, i like the car name badge so that people know what it is. I also like the SH-AWD badge because it's unique and signifies pride in one of he very best AWD systems on the market, one that Acura does not trumpet enough.

Glad there is no trim level badge. Oh, and red A insignia is just wrong….INMO. Kinda like using purple, beige, and green for the Stars and Stripes….

Frankly I'm surprised someone hasn't cut the "X" off and left the "TL" - that's the mod I want to see

Looks CLEEAAANN! I might just debadge mine this summer. I like the TLX when im infront of a TL or TSX to show off my model, and the SHAWD, cuz well, its awesome. But I feel like 95% of drivers couldnt care less or know even what shawd means.
If I had a RLX I would add a "Legend" badge like ive seen people do haha

If you don't have OCD, then you may never understand.

I plan to debadge mine this next weekend. It just looks cleaner IMO. Plus, the mitt that I use to wash my car gets eatin up by the X every time

I debadged a dealership emblem that came on my used 4Runner. I used a blow dryer on it to heat it up, and took dental floss and made a back and forth motion scissoring the adhesive off. Once the emblem is off took some compound like goof off or something to get remaining adhesive off. There are other options too!

My 13 years old son was begging me for two weeks to debadge "TLX" sign. Finally I was convinced. He used floss and grocery store membership card and did pretty well. Rear end looks more clear and classic. I really like it. Will add pictures tomorrow.

I'm personally not a fan of debadging. It's definitely one of the cleaner mods, but one I personally wouldn't do. I would just feel like something is missing from my car all the time.
