Smile Dealer wrecked my TL and now I got a TLX

Hello everyone

About 2 months ago, I posted pics of my wrecked car by the dealer.

Fast forward to this week, the GM called me and ask if I can come in to talk or rectify the situation after I posted 13 bad reviews about the dealership. After agreeing, he asked what will it take for me to delete ALL the reviews. I stated nothing. Then he went into the spill of giving me a good trade on my vehicle and purchasing a 2015 car. It was a deal I couldn't pass up and drove off the lot with a TLX Bellanova White Pearl. The dealership ran a special on all new cars "unlimited for life unlimited miles covered powertrain warranty". I got that along with $2000 more on trade in, $2750 off TLX price, TLX weather mats along with trunk, free oil change for a year, and $500 gift card towards accessories. Yes, I'm a happer camper now.

Word of advice: They stated the accident was in the parking lot but my mileage and gas told a different story. Always take a picture of both while at the dealership. My car had more than 25 miles when I got the called about the accident.

Congrats on the new car. I remember your thread in 4G and how bad their attempts at repair were. Good luck with the TLX.

p.s. Find a new dealer

Congrats and good luck! Use the TLX in all it's glory and milk that warranty. Fidelity has paid out over 50K in repairs on my 760, 10K purchase cost so I'm in the green!

I'm sorry to hear that you had to be in such a situation where you had to leave bad reviews to make some headway into getting the situation fixed. Acura should have made the dealership (dealership should have done it in the first place) rectify the situation as soon as it happened.

Thank you and I definitely agree..Guess they didn't take me serious how I wanted my car in the same shape before they wrecked it.

I'm glad things worked out for you! Enjoy the new car!! I am disappointed when I hear of a bad dealership experience. It also makes me appreciate the fabulous sales, parts, and service that I enjoy at my dealership.

BTW - did you get the 2.4 or the 3.5?

I'm happy for you that this was corrected, even late in the game. I think the thing that would still irk me is that if your TL was paid in full and now you have to make payments, it's still a PIA. My TL has a decent level of mileage (112K) and I love driving a car that's paid in full and still drives very well. New is nice (and I'm sure overall better) no doubt, but I'd still be pissed if it's the dealer minion's action that resulted in me having to make payments again, no matter how good of a deal you got. I agree to take it to a new dealership as I certainly wouldn't trust the prior one.

OMG....Yes first off, the gas on the TLX is outstanding. I have driven it 4 days now going and my job is 25 miles and I'm at 3 quarters. By Thursday, I would have had to fill my tank again. The TLX cabin is so quiet vs TL. The ride is much smoother vs TL. The 4cylinder is actually faster than I expected. I thought maybe I would have be driving a Honda. TLX feels lighter vs my TL. One big complaint I had with the TL was the head rest. I hated how it came forward. The TLX is seat is more comfortable.

Wow. Sorry you had to go through this, but glad they resolved it to your satisfaction in the end.

What was the reason they had to "test drive" your car? Most of the stories I have heard of these kinds of incidents involved the kind of service/work that didn't require a test drive of any kind which just sealed the dealership's fate

Yes I'm pissed. I only had 39,000 miles on my car. Thanks again

They hit my front end and I kept complaining about hearing noises on my front end near that tire. They wanted to hear the noise.

3 coolant leaks, one of which was over 96 hours of labor, numerous transmission fixes, 2 whole new transmissions, audio system repairs 10+ times, broken door handles, broken trunk hydraulics, Navi screen died, camshaft replacement, waterpump replacement, starter replacement, new fuel pumps, new drive shaft and I believe also a few control arms.

dealerrater (they are highly active on this site) , yelp, our county newspaper that has a section in their paper and online, facebook, google+, twitter (with 34 repost), BBB, Consumer Affairs, state consumer affairs, county which I reside in Consumer affairs, my dealer report, and 1 other I can't remember.

I'm in a large city/surburb with 4 counties surrounding me and they are the only Acura delearship in this area (60 mile radius to the East of my county)

Dear lawd! That's insane!

96 hours on a coolant leak is crazy too. That's 2 weeks and 2 days of 8 hour shifts, solid. You could replace every single component in the system for that time.

The engine had to be pulled along with the trans, front and rear timing covers removed to slide in a new pipe. Also valve-train was removed! I paid to have the chains and guides replaced for a few hundred dollars (not included in price quoted above), and they had to get the shop foreman and a V12 tech from the Orlando dealership to do the work. Plus warranty paid for a loaner which I didn't include in the price either!

Just curious - did you delete the reviews? I'm definitely glad they rectified the situation, not that my opinion really matters, but I'm also curious if "money" solved this problem for them...

Usually they will ask you to edit or update the review, which you can do on Yelp at least

That's interesting, thanks.

After all my run ins with dealers I no longer allow them to put "customer states" as I have them verify the issue before writing up the work order and ask them to document accordingly.

If you go to court, that matters (believe it or not).

Sorry to hear of your accident, but glad that all is sorted

Reminds me of the video I saw last week on the Mazdaspeed forum, where Tasca dealer in RI took a MS3 for a joy ride. Service guy picked up his son at home, abused the car, al for about 35 miles. Then he finds a camera in the car (which was turned on and recording), and he says OMFG the owner put a camera in the car.

Even with camera they kept the car for 2 more days and abused it.

Unbelievable.

I had to delete them at the dealership after the deal. I'm sure it solved a problem for them and me as well. At that point, I got an attorney and was in the process of going through civil court. Although, insurance only I wanted them to give me a diminished value and fix the problem with my tire wheel. The service technician who went out of his way and told me who wrecked my car stated that that noise was coming from some rod near my tire that was possibly bent from the accident.

I used to have a honda and the 4 cylinder was always slow compared to my next car which was the 2008 Acura TL which was v6. When I got the 4 cylinder with this car and drove one of my friends 2013 honda accord it was still slow compared to the new TL. It has a little pep in its step. lol

Most of them I was able to edit and placed Delete in the body instead. A few I had to change the body and put I recommend this dealer and some other BS. Consumer Reports in my state and county allowed me to delete on behalf of the dealer but kept my scoring as being solved. One of the top ones the dealer had to call and I spoke with them with my username and it was deleted.
One thing I learned about these sites are they work or bend over backwards for a company. It was one site that stated I couldn't edit or delete a comment but they allowed me to when I was able to change it to good review. It's sad they allow that because it can hurt other customers searching for a good brand or company.
