2018 TLX Spy Shots

So it took them a few versions of the beak before it settled down into something acceptable, (TLX and 16 RDX) and now they move to a new grille and will likely tweak the A logo over a few generations to get it right. Even on a Mercedes the large emblem borders on obnoxious, but you could argue that it is a Benz and making a point. I don't think Acura can be in the same league and should tone down the obnoxious emblem.

Are there official photos of the mmc tlx? Which year model are you referring to as amazing looking?

Cheesey...I agree, in person and seeing two MDX side by side, man that logo itself is HUGE! The grill is fine, i just wished the logo was just a little smaller

Why does the front end scream pre-facelift genesis!

Saw the new '17 MDX at the dealer while getting my oil change. New grille does look odd on the car and the Acura emblem is way big ! I think the shield on the current TLX and '14-'16 MDX look fine. The older Acura shields looked horrendous.

The back seems ok but the front of that TLX is terrible, mostly due to those headlights. Not worried though, as we had no clue what the new '17 MDX looked like until it was presented.

I think it would really suck if the +18 TLX MMC was only cosmetic. Other than adding Acura Watch to lower trims being the only tech updates Acura might or will apply for +18 TLX for now.

This looks like a photoshop job that I could do......and obviously I suck at photoshop.

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion the face lifted TLX will look even more boring, except now with a gargantuan grill and badge on the front? Thus far, seeing all the renderings, I'd say the current TLX looks better.

Just add a 6MT for the 3.5L and 2.4L for the +18 TLX and all will be forgiven.

Anyone on the inside at Acura/Honda that knows if there will be powertrain changes on the '18 TLX? Really hoping for something more aggressive than the 290hp V6 as I'd love to trade up next year but that's not happening if the changes are only cosmetic.

Saw the new MDX on the road the other day. However it was in the opposite lane so only had a quick glance. Definitely stands out and doesn't feel Acura to me, yet.
If the TLX is going to take on this new look I hope the grille is alot smaller.

My guess (and hope) is that if they were to make any powertrain changes, it would be to introduce a sport hybrid model. If it gets the system from RLX, that would be very nice with 377hp and 341lbft of torque. Even with the MDX Sport hybrid system, it's still 325hp which isn't the best, but a decent improvement. The added low end/instant torque would help a lot.

There will eventually be performance variants, but for 2018, as far as I know, there will only be a cosmetic variant. There is also, as far as I know, no plan to implement any hybrid drivetrain in the TLX.

Won't FMC TLX come out in 2019 as 2020 model? I dont see logic in performance variant in last year of lifecycle, so may be they will come in 2019 along with FMC.

I'm not expecting anything other than cosmetic changes and adding Acura Watch to all trim levels for +18 TLX. Adding a hybrid, Type-S, and/or 6MT model would be nice; but, Acura is already asking a lot from the TLX. Adding in more variants could put the price spread from the low 30s to mid-high 50s for one model. I think Acura will save any major powertrain, handling, and technology changes (apple/android carplay) for the next gen TLX.

There is a guy over on TOV who says new power plants are coming to the TLX - well he says in one place that Acura (Honda), as a whole, has new power plants coming for the 2018 model year in 2017...then he says in another that the TLX has a new engine for 2018 (but doesn't specify if that's model year or calendar year).

It was az or mdxers, but a guy named Supertech knew about the '17 MDX features far in advance because he works for Acura, hopefully he sees this?? Would love to see the sport hybrid implemented into the TLX, along with that 7spd DCT
not sure if that 7spd is possible though because of the TLX's layout.

It looks like Honda will no long make a V6 Accord. They will move to a 4 cyl turbo of similar performance. They may be moving to a model where to get a V6 you need to go Acura. At least I hope they keep the V6 for Acura. If they aren't making V6's for the Accord anymore I wonder what that would do for engine production for Acura. Would that drive up V6 model prices? I guess we'll see how this works out. I'm not really sure I care anymore. This may be my last Acura anyway.

I think Honda buyers will have the same problem picking a I-4 turbo top trim being around the same price as a 2.4L TLX tech with less power/features. The only difference is body style and limited Acura dealerships. You can get pretty much the same or more tech in the Accord and Civic AND you get Apple Carplay in the +16 Honda (Accord/Civic/Ridgeline) already. I don't think Acura management talks very much to Honda's management team. Honda has about +250,000 per year potential Acura buyers that could upgrade to the luxury brand; but, Honda has too much overlap with Acura for most buyer to make it worth the switch.
The next gen TLX will have to have the Accords i-4 turbo (plus a few more hp/tq) as the entry level engine and V-6 and sport hybrid option for the upper trims
