And it's not even "outrageous" by any stretch. If anything, it just looks good.

I would. It's an awesome color. Are you implying a bluish silver is much more sporty?

Baby blue is not good for sure, but burgundy is for old people

That's what everyone says, and people made fun of me for having a V6 Accord coupe (with 6mt) in that color. They called me an old man

I loved that color though. When polished, it looked so deep and beautiful.

Maybe I am an old man at heart!

I hear ya on the Type-S....even if they could bring a body-kit a la 2009 TSX where they replaced the entire front/rear bumper.....I would live with an added side skirt.

It blows my mind that they can come up with such a sexy model and design and say, nahhhh, that is too good looking and exactly what people would like, so lets make it bland with amazing Good Year tire......gheez, even Trojan makes better rubber!

I agree with you, I think that it's a nice color, especially when just polished. I assume you don't have the Accord Coupe anymore? What did you think of it? I am half considering one for an in between car while I figure out what I want next (I tend to keep my cars for a very long time and have had my '09 TSX since new but kind of in the mood for something different, just not completely sure what I want next as a long-term car).

Just like their reason for having "hidden" exhaust pipes; to "look" green. Newsflash acura, just cause it looks like it, doesnt mean it is.

Id rather have a sleeper car that will beat the shit out of most cars when needed, than a car that pretends to be fast via looks.

The hidden exhaust appearance is a growing phenomena in the segment , with Lexus and MB doing likewise. That said, I hope this fad goes away soon.

As far as a Type S model, it'll never happen in this generation TLX. Toss in packaging like the GT Appearance package pretty much betray that lack of interest.

Yes, MB and Lexus use fake exhausts or have their exhaust hidden now

These kinds of upgrades are useless. That's why they shouldn't bother with a Type-S model if it isn't going to have any performance improvements. I'm surprised they even went with the GT label for what is basically the optional wheels, and body kit.

I can understand the A-spec kit as the entire bodykit and wheels as a cosmetic upgrade, but having a GT version of anything, I'm expecting some oomph!

Honda has a different definition of GT.
they think it means stick on parts.

and I love the opening line of the article.....
Acura missing some of the letters of the alphabet here...
ACURA TLX GT SHAWD

fuckin acura and their acronyms...... PCP (Precision Crafted Performance) more like lets get high and tack on body kits.

I agree on both points... IMO they should have just called it a "Sport Appearance Package" and left it at that. As you said, I also would expect a GT version to be more than a body kit..... However, now that they got the body kit out of the way, IMO if they do a Type-S model I can see it have the "oomph" (not sure how much) you're looking for.. .

just renamed.

instead of it being called the Aspec body kit, it is now the GT inspired body kit

Don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of middle aged moms that will love the GT. And that's all acura cares about these days.

Yeah I know... What I am trying to say is now that they are offering the GT inspired (A-Spec) kit on the TLX, hopefully they get the appearance items out of their system. So when and if they come out with a Type-S model it won't be purely cosmetic, it will be a combo of appearance and more importantly performance. Hopefully I was clearer this time...

It's nothing new, after awhile GM used the Super Sport name on appearance packages and the GTO name on under powered cars. People still bought 'em.

At least the A-Spec kit included an upgraded suspension. I do love the look of the TLX with those wheels and body kit, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay that price for the GT package on a brand new car when you can find a used one in in 3-4 years that will barely factor that package into the lot price.

Geeez, at least when Lexus introduced F Sport they not only integrated the look (for what it's worth) and updated the interior, they changed the suspension. No more power, but...

And the M Sport package on BMW brings a different exterior look and sport suspension.

Why is that so difficult for Acura?

Because IMO Honda is limiting them on what they can do, it's as though after all these years Honda has no idea what to do with Acura.. Which is sad.....

Again, IMO...

Honda really loves selling vanilla cars.
its what they are best at.
they are likely not going to alienate their current customer base and further damage sales by catering to a few enthusiast.

but there was a time when Honda cars weren't vanilla.

The Prelude, the Civic (when it was competitive), the s2000, the Accord Coupe (when it was competitive)...

But I believe that's when Soichiro Honda was still alive... or at least soon after he passed, so Honda's mantra was still to be sporty.
