2015 TLX aero kit

recently I order and installed the aero kit thru an Acura dealership. After it was installed I noticed that the side skirts didn't sit flush with the body. There was a gap right in front behind the wheel well. I contacted them and they told me that that is how it's suppose to be. Anyone else have the oem kit installed and have this issue?

what crappy workmanship.
then they make it worse by telling you, thats how it's supposed to be...

body panels are supposed to be flush! even side skirts/add on kits!

They said the gap is there for water to flow out? They said there is nothing they can do about it

Well if the gap wasn't there, water wouldn't flow in. I understand it's really zoomed in, but that looks pretty bad for work costing 1k+ (entire kit + install)

I really don't see an issue. There's a gap between the black wheel well liner and the kit. That's not a bad thing. It also appears to be 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch in size. They separate them because they are two different materials that likely have a chance of moving independently of each other... Over time it could wear down the paint, where it touches the black surface.

This is is just Honda being conservative with their designs. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Provide a zoomed out shot, for us to get a better picture of the whole thing.

If you really want, you can buy that grey gasket... It's an OEM material. You can cut small pieces to fill those gaps, though you may have a hard time holding it in place. If it does move, I'd quite literally use a dab of glue from a hot glue gun. Hot glue guns have non corrosive glue, they hold strong and if necessary, it's possible to break the bond without any damage.

here is a picture of it zoomed out. The gap is minimal but when you pay almost 2100 for parts plus labor from a dealer, you expect it to be factory fitment. Not some bs excuse that is for water to drain out.

Installation instructions for the left side underbody spoiler : http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/BII51411.PDF

They mention gaps and no gaps throughout it... as an example, look at steps 26 and 27 in it. I've seen people post it with the gaps you have and I've seen another poster post it with no gaps. I'm not sure which is correct, but the one with no gaps looks better. If you look at pics of it on Acura's website, there doesn't seem to be any gaps that are noticeable.

If you hit it from the front and get rid of the gap at the front, wouldn't it just show up at the back then?

It would move it down a bit and make it flush with the body. As you can see in the picture there is some room in the back for it to move back and sit how it's suppose to sit.

From the first day I had rear deck spoiler added I knew it was a mistake. Poor craftsmanship.

I can't figure out why they made the read spoiler so bulky. In particular being that it is partially affixed with adhesive tape. A simple lip spoiler as was available for the 3G would have sufficed. It's interesting to see that the spoiler on the A-spec version of the MMC is in fact a lip type spoiler.

I asked my service writer about it when I had the car in to replace the battery. He said: "Nope, you don't want that, let me show you why". He took me over to a TLX in the showroom that had a spoiler, and the adhesive tape holding the ends had come loose. Talk about shoddy workmanship...

I contacted American Honda and they are having me bring the car back in so they can look over it again this Friday. Has anyone received any compensation for issues with dealerships?
