Ok .. soo.. yea...

I've had the ring for a month now. I'm ready to pop the question. I just can't figure out how.

I don't want it to be public, or expensive, or something super duper crazy or super duper cliche.

My initial idea was so get some of those professional photos taken of us. I hate taking pictures but she wants some so I 'gave in' and said ok fine. So we'd go out to a place and get some nice pics and while shes distracted I'd drop on a knee and she'd freak out and the camera person would be there to get everything. But it is so fucking hot 100+ outside everyday now that she doesn't want to get pics taken now... maybe when it gets cooler... in a few months.

Another option: we are going on a week long vacation to Boston/Portland/NH in 6 weeks so I was thinking I could do it then .. like while walking along the beach in Cape Cod in a secluded spot. But I kind of don't want to wait that long.

I was thinking of going to the arboretum here or another botanical garden here and doing it there with all the nice scenery and being secluded in some parts, but again, it would be 100+ outside and they close before it gets 'cooler' in the evening.

I'm getting antsy. I literally and thinking of just coming home one day after work and just asking her! Argh!

Any other suggestions?

Mods can you change thread title to Input needed.. proposal help?

I did it at the beach.

Was going to do it on the beach afterwards, but that's frowned upon these days.

Seriously though, I proposed at the beach, I had to have my buddy hold on to the ring. We were with our friends and they had cameras. The sunset hit and bam thats when I did it.

I had a speech and everything ready to go, I choked and said whatever came out of my mouth.

Pick a place that you both like and/or holds meaning for the two of you. Picnic Area / Zoo / Beach / Restaurant / Bike Path / Walking Trail......
I proposed on the beach as well, but it was Sept and it wasn't 100+ degrees

Take her on some miserable hike to some buttfuck neck of the woods. Have her questioning your wit and relationship for being with some dolt who would take her on a hike in the middle of the summer to some place that has nothing going for it.

Then in the middle of her misery and disgust for your presence, whip it out. If she says yes, she's a keeper. If she looks pissed, put it back in your pants, Majofo saved you.

and if it wasn't clear, I mean your penis.

My nephew just did this and it might be a nice variant on what you're planning.

He planned a day trip to a scenic spot (kind of a nature walk), and when he was in the right area he proposed. She thought they were all alone, but he hired a photographer to secretly take pictures of the whole thing. So all of the proposal pictures were very candid. Then after the proposal, the photographer revealed themselves and they took some additional shots. The candid photos really came out well - they were cool because she had no idea so it was all very genuine and captured the moment really well.

She loved the whole thing - got the candid shots, and some good posed shots after too.

^ I was thinking of something like that. But I asked her recently if she wanted to go on a hike/walk nearby in a local camping/park area and she said hell no cus it's too hot lol. So although I also think it's a good idea, I don't think that will work.

At least I don't have to think about it anymore. Just need to wait 2 weeks. And weirdly enough, I feel relaxed.

Seconding the secret photographer ! When I eventually propose, I'd like one too to capture the genuine moment when my girl says no...

I would have happily offered my amateur photography skills to you OP if you were in the area. Good luck and keep us updated!!

No worries, mate. Just wait until 5 min before you do it. Then you will feel the butterflies. When you hit one knee, well, Hobbes gives a pretty good medical explanation (except for the very last part).

My husband proposed at the beach while we were walking and watching the sunset. An older couple happen to pass by after I said yes so they took our picture and I think it turned out nicely. So if you can't find someone who can secretly take photos, just make sure you pop the question where there's at least 1 person within shouting distance

Well, I finally did it!

We had that regular photo shoot session at a nature park at dusk. I was communicating with the photographer beforehand what and where I was going to do it and she was great going along with it.

So when we got to the area.. a little creek with big rocks in it and nice trees above, I gave the photographer the thumbs up and got to a knee. When my 'fiance' turned to her side and saw me she was in shock .. a good shock. She had no idea I was going to do it. She had a big smile. Then the photographer fell off the rock into the water.. .'I'm ok I'm ok don't mind me' . It was ok though, didn't really spoil the moment.

And she said yes, of course.

I had a few lines I was gonna say but I forgot and mumbled something.. apparently it came out fine though.

Also I was sweating bullets! The shots right after must have my face like I just got out of the shower. The photographer will have some editing to do

Her mom was in on it too and she actually wanted to hire a guitarist and florist to be there and I was like WHAT? Guitarist? Extra flowers? HELL NO. She obliged and cancelled them.

Finally got the pictures back from the photographer. Good stuff! We haven't told anybody other than family and close friends so far. She wanted to wait for the pictures to post to fb and send out engagement announcements (I didn't know such a thing even existed).

You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into.. welcome to a world of bullshit you didn't know existed. Life as a simpleton that you're familiar with, is now over.

That's what I'm talking about. I've never heard of it. Nowadays, facebook is all you need anyways. But whatever, I'm not going to argue with her.

I guess I could post a pic
