First track day - CLS6

I had a lot of fun at my first track day on Aug 4 at Autobahn Country Club (full 3.5 mile track) in Joiliet, IL. MVP Track Time ran a great event - every session started on time and the instructors were great.

2003 SSM CLS6, daily driver with 138k miles. Main mods are AEM intake, SRS headers, Tanabe exhaust, and Eibach f/r sways. I ran EBC Redstuff pads on the fronts which held up fairly well. My car did great and I was happy I only got passed as much as I did - my novice group included some decent cars (zl1, gt40, viper, 911, many m3's). Obviously fwd is not so good for the track and my all seasons didn't do me any favors (Hankook Ventus V2). For me it was about the experience which was a blast and I learned a ton. I had an instructor ride along for 2 of the 6 sessions which were 20 min each.

I only timed 2 sessions and my best lap was 3:22. Tough to compare times since there were slowdowns for passes. Some of my laps from the last session were faster as I was more comfortable with the lines had a few laps in a row with no traffic.

A highlight was riding along in a 2010 Porsche GT3 in the advanced group. He had exhaust and slicks and was running about 2:45 laps. The braking and cornering were seriously crazy!

Hello, I just recently purchased an '03 CL-S6. I've been looking into bolt ons and there doesn't seem to be much variety. The most difficult part I've been lookin for is Headers. I've looked and looked and have found that only the Comptech Headers fit on the 6 speed(and I think one more brand, I'm not sure). How are your SRS headers? Was it easy to install? Any grinding to the rear mount? Good performance gains? Is it quality headers or eBay quality? Sorry for all the questions, but help would be greatly appreciated.

I refer you to

I am happy with the SRS headers and it appears a couple others are as well. My fit was perfect. It was not easy getting off my stock headers but these went on easy. No grinding. I would say middle of the road quality, better than I thought for the price.
