I enjoyed my 01CL and 05TL. I owned my TL for 9 years then got into VW. My issue with Acura is mainly cosmetics. A good example is the other day my wife and I were walking into a Target or something and I walked by a guy sitting in a GSF. It was grey with carbon fiber accents. I gave him a thumbs up. He gave me one back. I looked at my wife and said "why can't Acura make one look like that"

The 3rd Gen TL had an aggressive look that I really liked. The 4th gen just took the wind out of my sails. Same everything underneath I assume but just covered with a horrible body. I currently drive a 2015 Midnight blue VWCC. To me this car looks good from every angle.

So I was satisfied with my Acura's. But not currently satisfied with what's available. They could do a lot more with the current TLX.

I like my TSX for what it is, but it does have some issues that my older Acuras never did. The nav system crashes sometimes, which never happened on my RL or the TL. It also takes an unnerving long time to crank lately. I blew a speaker, which also never happened on the others and its apparently a common problem. Love the steering rack though. I occasionally regret not getting the V6. It's definitely not a fast car. It handles the awful roads of DC really well though and the mileage is solid.

I'm in the minority here, but I loved my 2nd gen RL. I didnt have any problems with it whatsoever for the first 170,000 miles or so. It went downhill pretty quickly after that. But with the A-spec suspension, a solid radio, and a great AWD system, it was a great commuter and DD.

That 2nd gen TL-S though.... the RL was nicer, but the TL-S is still the favorite of my acuras. It was so fast for it's time. Upper RPMs in 2nd gear always put a smile on your face.

I don't know if the TSX problems are a product of "acura doesn't make cars as well as they used to" or if it's just a matter of it being the entry level car, but I don't think i'll keep it to 150k miles like the other two. I'm open to an AWD ILX or a I4 AWD TLX if acura decides to make one though. Of the current offerings, I probably lean towards the RDX

Being active in the 2G RL sub forum, I don't think you are a minority. I am approaching my fourth year owning my 2007 and have not spent a single penny on repairs. Granted I'm around 75k and baby the hell out of that thing.

75k? It's practically new! Enjoy it man. My first unexpected repair was a wheel bearing at around 160k miles.

I had a 2005 MDX which was replaced by a 2008 MDX in the past and they were both great vehicles. The 2008 was a lot of fun to drive and I actually missed it for a while after we turned it in at lease end.

On the 2005 a door lock actuator was replaced and the HVAC fan was replaced due to a whistling noise it would make when above the lowest fan setting. With the 2008 the head unit was replaced after it "blacked-out" a couple of times.. Besides that just routine maintenance over the 6-1/2 years combined that I owned both.

Currently we are approaching 6 years that we have had the 4G TL in the family and the the car has been great. Just routine maintenance with the biggest issue being the airbag recall that approx 65 million other people have also had to deal with.

So yes, I have been happy with my past and current Acura's.

I really wish Acura would have come out with a true 5G TL and not a mix of the TSX and TL.
