Well it depends I hate to admit it (I am a die hard Mustang Fan), but I have raced a Mustang GT 2000 and I beat him, it was stock vs. stock but it was an Auto and a Convert. So the additional weight and automatic tranny ended up taking a toll on the performance.

if i were driving the mustang GT, you would never had nothing to post! 1967 GT, 1988 GT, now i drive a 03 type S its like a old ladys car compared to the machines i owned in the 60,s 70,s 80.s 90,s and these GT,S were the slower one,s too! my 1970 plymouth GTX had 450 H.P. ($3,645.00) new and with minimal mods, top speed 181 M.P.H. (think NASCAR) anybody that thinks an acura TL is fast needs a major check up from the head up! hey TL,s are nice but these are not by any means a race car....its a go for grocery's type with some looks and dual exhaust! whoopee!

Did you buy your TL to race? If so, better hurry up and register with SCCA and start getting your points. Don't forget to strip the interior, rebuild the engine, and tear everything apart so you can beat your friend's Mustang. <insert severe sarcasm> Hmm... 16 years old with a 3rd gen TL, is this the fast and the furious generation? haha.

I have 5AT and have beaten a GT twice. Both have been autos though. A Manual would definitely beat an AT TL, maybe a 6MT. They definitely have the off the line advantage but we have high end kick! "NAAAAAAAWS" lol

TL will win over Mustang GT in overall performance

the Mustang GT tops out earlier than the TL if i remember

and GT's engine is not quite refined as well

Overall it would be close IMO.
Don't know about top speed.
Engine isn't a Honda for sure.
