Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are reuniting to create an all-new car show, exclusively for Amazon Prime. The show will be produced by the trio’s long time executive producer Andy Wilman. On working with Amazon, Jeremy Clarkson said “I feel like I've climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.” The first show will go into production shortly and arrive exclusively on Amazon Prime in 2016.

But will it be as good?
While Clarkson, May and Hammond develop a new motoring show for Amazon, the BBC is working on its biggest Top Gear reboot in years. Presenter Chris Evans (no, not Captain America) is taking over Clarkson's role and revealed last weekend exactly when the first episode will be airing. Well, sort of. During the BBC's live Saturday Kitchen show he said it would be broadcast on Sunday, May 5th. Which would be fine, if May 5th wasn't actually a Thursday. Whoops. The Guardian seems to have cleared up the issue though, clarifying that filming will finish on May 5th before the first episode airs on May 8th.
"We've already started making the films and the films are good," Evans said. "We go to America to make our first inter-continental film in January."
These are UK dates, of course, although we suspect it'll arrive on BBC America in the US not long after. That's been the case with previous Top Gear seasons anyway, and the broadcaster has made no indication that it'll be changing for series 23.
It's a crucial turning point for one of the BBC's most successful shows. Clarkson and chums were, according to many motorheads, the best part of Top Gear and the main reason for tuning in. The show has a huge production team behind it though, and the BBC will be hoping that the exotic cars, stunts and road trips can be replicated with a fresh set of faces. Like Doctor Who, switching the main star (or in this case, stars) shouldn't be the show's downfall. That's the BBC's thinking, anyway. Little has been revealed about the new-look Top Gear -- it's not even clear who, if anyone, will be presenting alongside Evans.
Meanwhile, Amazon is hard at work developing a new, unnamed motoring show with the former Top Gear trio. It's scheduled for 2016, so there's a good chance the two programmes will be going head-to-head. The difference being, of course, that most Brits already have access to the BBC's TV channels. Amazon Video, on the other hand, is less well known and requires a subscription -- it'll be interesting to see just how many petrolheads, both in the UK and abroad, pay up to keep watching Clarkson's antics.

OK, I'm over my self-induced Top Gear "ban". I will watch. Chris Harris! WOW! and Sabine Schmitz. Two people who can actually drive, and do it well, and both halfway decent presenters.
I'll need to bone up on my Deutsch, though! I spoke fluently while I lived there for a few years during high school, but I can read better than speak it almost 30 years later...

Currently Post-Acura
Seems like they have a pretty decent cast for it to continue, but I'm still waiting for the LaFerrari vs. 918 vs. P1 on Amazon now.
And on a side note, saw this earlier: http://www.buzzfeed.com/andyneuensch...nny#.fiZbK4PGQ

Sabine? It's like they're going back to how it was in the old days where they had a female (Vicki Butler Henderson) Top Gear presenter. Hopefully the show won't be as boring as it was back then too.

I like Chris Harris' enthusiasm and charisma, but he seems more at home with high dollar super cars... what's going to happen when they need to spend

I just saw a promo on BBC America while watching Dr. Who tonight. TGUK is returning in May 2016 with new episodes.
Looks like it's officially on.

Not sure if they actually filmed the LaFerrari vs P1 vs 918 with the original three before it went off air, but if I were Top Gear UK, I'd be trying to get this comparo on the air with the new team FAST to beat the the Amazon show as a ratings booster

Is The New 'Top Gear' Already Off To A Bumpy Start?
The full article here: Is The New 'Top Gear' Already Off To A Bumpy Start?
The news coming from the set of the new "Top Gear" is not good. Fans of the show have feared that it would be impossible to replace the original trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. So far, fan predictions have been pretty spot on. Anonymous sources are reporting to the Daily Mail that production of the show has been hit with several setbacks. BBC2 controller Kim Shillinglaw is reportedly "meddling" too much with the show and the new production team apparently doesn't "know anything about cars."

The BBC boss in charge of the upcoming reinvention of Top Gear has quit her job,
As controller of BBC Two and BBC Four, Kim Shillinglaw oversaw production on numerous shows across the channels - including the revitalised version of the beloved car series that has seemingly been plagued with issues since filming began.
Recent reports suggest that Shillinglaw, 47, had been 'meddling' with the Chris Evans-fronted new series, apparently "terrified" by the appointment of the presenter.
Her role will not be replaced, as it was announced that Charlotte Moore will instead assume the role of controller of BBC TV and iPlayer.
Speaking about her decision, Shillinglaw said: "I wish the BBC, Mark [Linsey] and Charlotte every success with the many changes BBC TV needs to make.
"I've loved modernising BBC Two and Four over the last two years but when you don't get the big job, it's time to move on. And I'm looking forward to another big challenge."
Shillinglaw isn't the only one to step down from her position since the departure of original hosting trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May; an executive producer personally hired by Evans also quit back in December, while the abilities of the presenter himself have been thrown into question following the suggestion that he was initially unable to drive and talk to the camera simultaneously (a claim the BBC have since denied) and was photographed 'throwing up' on the side of the road after developing motion sickness.
According to Evans, however, the new series of Top Gear is due to begin in May.

Well, for even more context to the above post, Evans was apparently read to quit...
Source: Chris Evans Threatened To Quit New 'Top Gear': Report
The world’s most-watched car show, Top Gear, is set to return this year after temporarily sailing into the unknown following the rout caused by the exit of long-time hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in 2015.
However, the new series looks to have already run into trouble with reports out of the United Kingdom claiming the show’s lead, Chris Evans, has already threatened to quit at least once.
Citing several sources, the Mirror reports that Evans made the threat as a result of frustration caused by “meddling” by heads at the BBC, the station that produces the show.
The good news for fans is that a new person said to have a good working relationship with Evans has been put in charge of the project. Joining Evans in the new show will be British journalist Chris Harris and German track ace Sabine Schmitz.
No doubt there will be more to hear about the new series in the lead up to the first episode, currently thought to be airing on the BBC on May 8.
Meanwhile, Amazon Prime’s new show starring Clarkson, Hammond on May is also in production and is expected to premiere in the fall of 2016.

James May is also saying that reports of filming issues with Evans may be partially fabricated.
