the price on the s2000 has not dropped at all in the last 2 years... i do not want to spend $25k on a 10 years old car (low miles) yet i want another one so bad...

I get wanting the newer stuff as its usually in better condition. ( I would own a newer model if the price's were right at my time of purchase)
I just think you could probably find some 04-05's in fantastic shape and save some coin. people have had that preservation mentality with them for years.
my '02 is mechanically and visually in better condition that far too many AP2's I've come across. ( I just have more miles on mine than I would like ) I also plan on hanging on to this one for good as well.

My gf found an '08 berlina CR in Oregon a while back sitting in the driveway and sent a picture to me. the owners have a few other cars they drive daily. but never touch the S.
its in beautiful shape, not for sale, and has sat in the same spot (outside) for so long the tires are losing air and getting flat spots all around.
its a damn shame.

'08 MX5 GT 6spd.
A Viper engine in a Viper is completely outrageous. This is like one of those Forza builds where you just add everything you can and then the car is completely useless.

but this isn't one of those 80/90's rwd 4 bangers that cant get out of its own way without an LS.
sure its no 400hp monster... but the F series was/is pretty incredible for what it is. And tough as nails.

I used to think it was a neat and novel idea, but it depends on how much tire you can fit. Plus I think the car doesn't weigh enough to utilize all that tire. You start needing aero as well to put the power down... S2000s need aero help in stock form.

hokay, so.
every since the new wheels have been put on, I've been experiencing some vibration at highway speed.
My initial thought was the wheels weren't perfectly centered because the hub centric rings hadn't come in the mail yet.
Well, all of the wheels are centered now, and it calmed down the shuttering ever-so-slightly.
the shop that mounted my tires always does a good job of balancing my wheels after install, so I don't have much suspicion that they aren't balanced correctly.
I have a secondary guess though.
when I first installed my coilovers on the car, (they were nearly maxed out) the car had a slight shutter, once the car was raised, and the car was more leveled out to stock specs from front-Rear, the vibrations stopped.
now I haven't messed with the suspension this time around, but the front did drop about .5" from the tire sizes being squared.
so now there is a slight rake in the front.
could the rake be causing the vibrations? I could always raise the front some to compensate for the smaller tire diameter, but was trying to avoid having noticeably more wheel gap up front than the rear.
anyways, thanks for any input as always.

There are many many threads about this on s2ki if you think this may be the case.
I would ask how long it has been since the suspension install but figure telling you the most likely cause for what you feel is gonna cut down on back and forth question/answer time.
Edit: also new wheel/tire size can have the same effect as changing ride height. Would ask wheel/tire specs but like I said... Look into the axle bucket issue/axle spacer thing if you aren't aware yet.

I'm thinking axle buckets as well, but bring the wheels back for a rebalance. It could be as simple as that.

im actually in the middle of raising all 4 corners a bit, (I scraped on a few things I normally cleared before the wheels went on.)
if the added height doesn't get rid of it, it must be the wheel balance.
the only reason im ruling out the buckets is because it happened instantaneously. it didn't gradually get worse, it went from zero vibrations to very noticeable shuttering after 60-ish mph

The fastest and cheapest way is
Put your stock wheels/tires back on and drive it and you will know if it is the new wheels/tires or it is something else.
Reputable shops or not, they all mess up sometimes.
I had to rebalance my tires on my 335 3 times before they finally got it right and this is a shop i have been using since my CL days.

i'd definitely change the wheels first since that's the easiest test
