During this build, I had a chance to go visit Chris Ludwig from Ludwig Motorsport to check on the harness for the engine.

We decided to use the AEM coils with the Haltech PS2K.

Mil-spec connector..

Please don't think that way... This is several years in making and this is my last big build for a long time... On other threads, I call it my "Last Rotary Build".. as I am now a family man and I'm wanting to go out big with a build that I been dreaming about. This is no way trying to discourage people but hopes of getting people pumped up!

Also, I'm trying to do as much of the stuff myself as possible.. If not, I'm trying to give credit to those who are doing the work...

Here is something new for the 20B that I'm debuting..

ITs the new Xcessive Engineering lower intake manifold for the 20B. This is made for those interested in doing 3 rotor swap on RX7s, by lowering the height of the manifold and also each runner has an individual injector port. By using this, I'll be running 6x ID2000s on this manifold and 3x ID1000s on primaries on the irons. This much fuel, I'll be good for E85, 1000+WHP.... but shooting for 700-800 ish WHP.

I also studded the LIM and cut various FD hardwares to get this studded look with chrome hardwares. Also, better view of the LIM with UIM.

Dreem, where does Lopez work? Dynamic Turbo? I remember those guys had some very fast cars in the mid 90's. There was a well known crew around Miami at that time...red RX7, yellow supra...etc...

If I can lay it down it should be fast in straight line. But that HP goal is mainly to have a bragging rights... I personally don't think its going to be fun on a track or twisty roads. Nor am I a professional drivers to handle such power except highway runs or drag strip.

Herblenny yea putting down that much power is hard, and when grip is usually when things start breaking

Personally, sometimes fun could come from a stock FD vs. modified FD... I drove a friend's bone stock FD and man, it was fun in sense that I didn't have to worry about unpredictability I sometimes experienced with built car. Also, surprised me how well it drove unmolested and how great these cars are from factory.

Stock housing, KAAZ internal with Greddy extra capacity cap. I have no intention of launching this as I know it will surely to break things. If I were to build a drag car, I would of picked a different platform.

Schooling you need, read some of these wiki articles..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wankel_engine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Wankel_engine

That should cover everything you need to know about the engines..

Fair enough, man.
I guess I just feel like sometimes humble is the way to go. Your car is awesome, your rims are awesome. We all know it and you get nothing but love. Just say thanks and appreciate it is all.

My Dad used to tell me, if you have to tell people how awesome you are, how true can it be. Guess it stuck.

Herblenny is a great example of that. He clearly knows ALL aspects of this car and his build and he has nothing but "thank you's" and "I appreciate that" from us peasant folk. He could have a different attitude altogether.

Anyway, probably just a personal thing on my end. No harm meant and I really will get back on topic.

One of the nicest thing someone has said about me... To add, I been in rotary scene for years.. over 10 years seriously.. I have owned every rotary vehicle that came to USA except R100 and Cosmo Sport. I run one of the largest rotary car event in the country and you could read about it on Oct 2012 issues of Modified Magazine.. I also understand that some people will hate my build, some will love it, and some just want to start trouble... those, I learned from the past to just ignore and move on as you could potentially waste huge amounts of time, only to lead nowhere.

Anyhow, I will continue to keep you guys updated.. as long as you guys don't mind..

Well, I have also heard that they're not as reliable, don't last as long, burn oil. But, my assumption was that that was probably in stock form. I bet Herblenny has changed most of the parts that would fail.

a 3 rotary means there are 3 chambers rather than 2? and a 4 is a four chamber?! I am guessing that's the equivalent of having 4 kids standing around one of those spinning things in they playground spinning it rather than 3?

Just thinking out loud.

What I'm about to say is with utmost respect and only to give you suggestion in the future.

I think the issue is the way you post and question. 1. you have to think and assume not everyone is a mind reader. For that reason, if you are going to ask questions, be specific. 2. Posting pictures of your car on someone else's build thread without anyone asking is consider by most to be arrogant and against etiquette. I'm sure you meant well, but those who doesn't know you and can't see your reasoning, its view differently than what you might think. 3. Don't ask people what do they do for living just because you see some money is spent. Its not polite and again, against etiquette. We are all car guys and this is what unite us. Bringing job, political views, etc only leads to conflict between us. Also, all those are personal things...

I will be honest with you, those three things I mentioned above is the reason I skipped your questions. I would never do that on any forums I belong to nor anyone I met in person... either they drive an F40 as a daily or building a 1000HP Yugo, I wouldn't go on their build thread or picture thread and post pictures of my cars without some consent. Its an etiquette and respect for others... and violated, it seems like you are hijacking.

Hope you don't take what I said personally and hope you understand somewhat what you might have done. As I stated and learned over the years is that it takes bigger man to admit their faults and a child, when they defend their mistakes.

4 Rotors are becoming more popular due to Mad Mike in NZ. And guys at PPRE is doing some great stuff and now they have built custom, one off 6 rotor. But the problem and as I stated in their FB page, is the durability. Mazda made 4 rotor engine that won 24hr LeMans back in 91 but in order to set up correctly, it takes great deal of money.

That being said, recently I was invited to see something super rare at the Jim Downing (also developer of HANS device).

I got to have an early preview before everyone showed up.

I have.. My MB FD posted early, I have changed pretty much everything from carpet to all suspensions and drive train.

One of the main problem with this car was lack of understanding and lack of reputable mechanics. Mazda dealership also didn't help as they couldn't troubleshoot the cars back in 90s and even now and put many cars out of commission when it wasn't necessary.

You are somewhat correct. All production rotary cars were 2 rotors except 1 production car in Japan only called Eunos Cosmo. Cosmo was the most expensive production car Mazda has ever made and it was first for many things in Automotive world. One being use of 3 rotor vs. 2. It was also the foundation for FD's sequential twin turbo set up. The increase one additional rotor in terms of piston, V6 vs. V10. Increase in torque and power.

20B is also the foundation for Speedsource RX8 that won couple of times at Daytona.

Thank you.. But trust me, I'm working hard to be down to earth.. I also have my mean side

One video I have is when I used to track with RX8... which I got rid of to get the TL.

Very well written response. I wasn't saying that's what I thought of rotaries, I've read for a long time the potential they had and have always loved them. I drove my buddy's RX8 in California 2 years ago...it took a bit to get used to, but it was DEFINITELY FUN!

I can never make up my mind on what will one day be my "weekend car". The TL does a great job of being a daily driver.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to explain the differences and fallacies. and PS, love that CHARGE car...looks like it would be tons of fun to whip around a track.

Quick Reply: My last rotary project/project.... 3 rotor RX-7
