congrats on the p-car, that is my next ride. I don't know if we'll sell our current 02 cab and get the turbo, or keep both.
That is a most excellent family car. They are really comfortable on road trips.

The top of the seats fold down to make a little storage cubby.
You also need to remove the seats to install a roll-cage. Several companies, including Porsche, make roll cages that just drop in and bolt down once you remove the seats.

Dealing with a boost leak somewhere that I need to address. But the car is a blast. Gives you way too much confidence.

I don't think boost spikes are a sign of turbo leak. If there was a leak it would have a hard time holding boost. Sounds more like waste gates or diverter valves are sticking. But I am by no means an authority on these cars.
Two problems related to the engines I have had: One time I was driving along and suddenly one of the hoses from the intercooler popped off. The car went into limp mode and I was moving at about three miles an hour to a parking lot before I could check the car. It was as simple as tightening a hose clamp. But you wouldn't have known that by the way the car was blaring at me.
Second problem was a hesitation at full boost. I didn't even notice it really because the car pulls so hard, but after it was shown to me, I could tell. The problem turned out to be me missing the spark plug change interval. The spark was getting blown out at full boost and not igniting the charge.

have put a little over 2,000 miles on it now. So far completely happy. Have a few things go wrong, but nothing I didn't expect out of a car driven as little as this one. Dealing with some fuel issues, the injectors are maxing out when they shouldn't be. Gonna replace teh fuel filter today as it never has been, and if that doesn't cure it will move onto the fuel pump.

Not bad. Waste gate I picked up for $250 but it was oem. Happened to find someone with a good one laying around. List price was like $499. Aftermarket in a pair could have been had for $300ish
Fuel filter was $30. Fuel pump is $450.
Problem is shop rates. Dealer charges $190-200 and local indies are $120-150

How accessible are the engines/engine compartments in those 911's.

Good and bad. Most stuff is pretty accessible, unless it's absolutely not. Like spark plugs, gotta remove bumper, exhaust, intercoolers
