Wow, I LOVE those wheels, very very nice choice.

Also your 335iS looks sooooooooooooooo good, very nice.

Car arrived on my birthday, this will be one hell of an awesome car, you better believe that! :P.

2/16 Body came off today & was dropped at my daughters house for storage while the chassis work is being done. Starting to photo & number the interior sheet metal before stripping it out.

Completed assembling & installing calipers. Nice touch was the inclusion of braded SS brake lines in the kit. On the fence about installing drilled & slotted disks. Test fitted splash shield which will get painted black then un der coated.



Test fit of 245X45X17 tire & wheel clearances with suspension members.

Be a slow process for awhile, garage is pretty cold. Overall its about 250 man hours to build it & don't expect to have a drivable unpainted car till into the summer. As the weather gets warmer will spend more time on it.

No problem. Its always good to see what others are doing & have done. We have a lose group of about 30 guys in the Raleigh Area that meet the 3rd Sat of every month at a local Hardies, big parking lot.

There is also a very good info exchange at http://www.ffcars.com/forums/ which is a great place to lurk for anyone considering buying one of these kits. Its a pretty good sized investment & should be realistically scoped out before getting into it.

In my personal opinion anyone who can follow directions, book is 481 pages, should be able to successfully build one of these things.

Lots of pictures but lots of steps

3/10 After a week of poor weather & no production the sun came out its 70 degrees & the build got restarted.



Pedal box & brake hydraulic cylinders assembled & installed. Front & rear brakes are on separate circuits as a fail safe. Clutch cable quadrant installed.



First sheet metal riveted in & front suspension/brakes finished.

It this the color you are planing to use? These cars are a lot of fun, both to build and drive. We had trouble with the Ford racing crate engine we bought during the build, hope the Coyote is better quality. These builds get expensive quick with all the upgrades and other little pieces from Factory 5, but the end result as you can see is really amazing.

This one was my goal target. Will be close except for solid heat shields on the sidepipes. twin rollbars & just quick jacks.

I doubt it, the owner is a die hard Ford fan. I think is a older Ford color, not sure of the exact name.

Saw a newer Mustang today that looked in range the driver said it was called Ruby Red Metallic.

Been keeping a list of all the red paint in the color range that I like. Will get to the hard part in the fall. Started on the cockpit sheet metal today.

Intend to mock it all up with clecos before I start to bond & rivet it. One of the guys warned me not to rivet the rear cockpit wall till the trunk was done or I would be #$@*^ a lot.

3/20 Sun came out garage warmed up & I got some work done. Fitted & drilled the passenger footbox & cleco'd it in place.

Next step will be to pull the panels clean them with MEK, put on 2000 degree heat barrier on the engine compartment side, Truck Bed Liner the bottom piece. Then they will be bonded, sealed & riveted in place.

Near the end of the project the insides will get a two sided aluminum insulation sandwich over laid with black carpeting.

Afraid it would be in slow motion. Punched & drilled about 160 holes today. Sheet metal to sheet metal go fast. Sheet metal to steel framing take a bit longer & eat up drill bits.

$10K delivered from Summit Racing. Ready to run with ECU, wiring harness, TKO-600 trans, HP clutch + mods for fitting to the FFR chassis like Moroso custom oil pan, pulleys, belts etc.

No problem in moving the thread. Was posted here in response to a question someone had.

Was package deal designed for the FFR roadster. Both have gone up beginning of this year so think its now $12K but still a good deal with the other stuff in the package cheaper than a la carte.

Also did well on a 50% off deal for all regular production options on the car, saved about $5K

What kind of rear diff are you going to run? You sticking with the live axle or go independent rear suspension?

Black powder coated Ford 8.8 rear with a Traction Lok differential & 3:55 gears. 3 link suspension with fully adjustable upper & lower control arms, Koni coil overs & Wildwood brakes. Running Nitto 555R 315X35X17 rears.

The same suspension used in the FFR racing series. The IRS is a comfort version primarily for the street.

Car will be tri-purpose. Street, some drag racing at Rockingham & club days at VIR.

3/30 Installed steering rack, steering shaft pillow blocks, steering shaft & tie rod ends. Also finished fitting the foot box sheet metal.

Applied the heat shielding to the foot boxes & undercoated the floor panels. Am finally #1 on the list for the custom rear axle & hope to get it in late this week.

Will continue to fit & cleco in the remaining sheet metal to keep busy.



Also to further improve my darkside image ordered a Black/Black 435M-Sport to replace the 335is.

ok so i have always wanted to do something like this. call it a "bucket list" thing. I have limited mechanical knowledge but with proper instructions and time...is this possible for a shadetree mechanic?

Its not a hard build if you stay with a basic car just takes a lot of time. Anyone who can follow directions, use basic hand tools & has patience can do this. Things can get weird when adding stuff like A/C, power steering etc.

Thing to remember these are replica's of what was effectively a street legal race car, not a boulevard cruiser.

I took the easy way & went no donor parts so all the parts are new & clean which can be used right away without restoring or reconditioning. Kit was originally designed to use a Mustang as a donor.

It costs more to go no donor but I don’t believe its that much more if you don’t go crazy with what you are buying.
