kk nice to know tire rack is a good choice. I'm in no rush to buy right now, plus my dad wants to look around for himself, although I doubt I'll end up liking his choices.
Anyway. THought this was worthy of a pic...

I like the subtlety. I prefer my cars to have the least amount of flash. Sleepers are fun.

Headlights look funny in the A8. They're LED, but they're still square shaped. I think they should be shaped more like the ones in the new A6, which contour more to the shape of the LED bar.

Just wanted to bring this back up and point out the foglights. Do these kind of fogs drive anyone else crazy? IMO they're way too tacky for such an otherwise clean car.

I agree about the fog lights.
And I want that toaster. Screw seeing Jesus in my toast, I want to see the 'Ring.

I had to drive like 5 miles and I thought I would just be hydroplaning the whole way lol.

Lucky, my tires are absolute shit in the rain. Should probably be on the lookout for new tires as well...

Never cheap out on safety components.....
Admittedly it's overkill for the street but I always try and get really good-rated/reviewed all-season tires (no snow around here). Same goes for brake components and even suspension. Ok, the last one isn't really for safety, but for driving at unsafe speeds
I don't believe in brand loyalty, but Koni, Moog and Raybestos are three proven first-hand brands that I'm gonna stick with for a while

I haven't had the best luck with Raybestos when it comes to brakes. Went through two sets of pads (not by choice), and each lasted less than a year (about 20,000 miles, 50% city). Dusted like crazy too. Interested to see how the new Wagner Thermoquiets hold up. Ironically, they squeal when cold, but not a speck of brake dust and they catch great after about four months.

Raybestos rotors work good for me. Part of the reason why I got them is because they have a coating on the hats preventing that rusted out look, heh
I got some semi-no name pads from a company called Vortex which are made from material recommended for use in trucks/HD apparently. Probably a hard pad, but they bite very well and I experience much less fade than what was in there before. BUT, the rotors aren't trashed.... yet. No warpage either. This is through street use and occasional runs through the twisty backroads. I replaced the rotors and pads at the same time (dunno if that mattered, I just tossed those old POS') and bedded them in as well.
Apparently the thing with Wagner Thermoquiets is that oddly enough, you're not supposed to grease them. Applying any sort of brake quiet apparently eats up the noise-reducing shim on them and that's when they start to squeal.

I am really disappointed with my 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L for long distance trips. The ride is terrible and the interior feels cheap and is full of rattles. Also I am not impressed by the nav/sound/DVD system. Feels very outdated. It is only useful for hauling stuff and we rarely use the 3rd row of seats. I want my dad to trade it in for a CPO 7 series or A8L and then get an old pickup off craigslist to haul crap.

damn, I have been out of the loop. is Toyota actually going to produce the FT-86?

Suzuka Master
wow you've really really been out of the loop. Production or sales, I forgot, starts this summer. Production model is going to be unveiled at the tokyo motor show
edit: FYI the toyota will have a 2.0L I4 producing 200hp and 170lb-ft.
If you go over to the automotive news you can see first drive reviews from a couple mags that drove the early models this past summer. They all loved it.
