Very nice, I have a Q50 Red Sport in that color. It's my favorite color for the car, under LED parking garage lights it's a deep gunmetal color. Looks sick. I wish the 50 came with Red Seats like that. I'm jealous of those seats!!

I thought this car felt quicker than expected, so I went to YouTube and found these.

If those are true that's nuts.

^ The Silver Sport and Red Sport numbers from the factory are underrated just FYI. There is big potential from these new motors.

The Silver Sport is really closer to 330-340 HP and the RS is 420-430 HP based on the dyno results people have been getting. The RS is putting down close to 380 HP to the wheels. The AWD Red Sport has been running 4.2/4.3 0-60 times with good tires.

Nice upgrade, knight rider. She's a beaut. Did you try one with DAS before making the final decision? If so, thoughts on that?

Thanks. DAS wasn't high on my list for "must haves", so I didn't test drive a car with DAS.

I'm getting 20 combined mostly city driving. I have a RWD sedan which is lighter than the coupe.

Short-term update

It’s been a month since I drove away from the dealership in my Q60 Sport. As promised, here is my 30 day review. I’ll go over my opinions about the top pros and cons of the car, as well as some comparisons between it and my 2008 G37 S. I’ll start by saying that I’m loving the exclusivity of having the car now. I haven’t seen another one on the road yet. I’m sure that’ll change in the months to come. I’m also reminded of how much of a task it is keeping a black car clean. Anyway, to the review.

I’ll start with the cons.

The thing I dislike most about the Q60 is the extreme lack of an exhaust note. I think Infiniti did this on purpose. This dislike is coupled by a close second dislike, the cold engine start. It sounds like a 4-banger. I’m not kidding. Ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, ti, tick. Almost diesel-like. Subtle but present. My third dislike is the blind spot over my left shoulder. This was a problem in the G as well but it’s actually worse in the Q. The window behind the B pillar is actually smaller. This makes head checks over my left shoulder more difficult. My last complaint is that the steering feel is (and I hate to use a word that is so abundantly used in car reviews but) not all that communicative. This I got used to though.

Now for the pros.

My favorite aspect of the Q60 is the exterior styling. The curves, creases, bulges, and sharp edges. It all goes together so well. Second to that is the interior styling. The use of contour lines. The stitching on and around the center console, doors, and dash. The contrasting colors; black, red, and silver. The materials. The cabin is both visually and physically a nice place to be. The third thing I like is the gas mileage. I’m averaging 23 MPG so far. That’s 3 more than the G. That equates to 60 more miles per tank! I have been on the gas quite a few times, but in rush hour commuting I’m mostly in Eco mode. It’s like having your cake and eating it too. Lastly, this car is quick. The nearly 1 to 1 power to torque ratio and the twin turbos provide neck snapping acceleration when you hit the gas. The G was fast but never snapped my neck during acceleration.

Pleasant surprises

The biggest initial turnoff for me on the Q was the dual touchscreens. I’m more of a knobs and buttons guy. Now that I’ve learned how to use the system along with the actual buttons, multifunctional dial, and steering wheel buttons, I think it’s pretty cool. The other surprise is the trunk space. The Q60 actually has a decent size trunk, unlike the G37 coupe. The Q’s tires are more practical as well. It runs the same size tires on all four corners (245/40x19), which happens to be the size of the rear tires on the G. This will make tire shopping that much easier. I never understood why the G was staggered. It was so under-pronounced that you couldn’t really tell, visually or performance-wise.

The comparison

The Q is better than the G in almost every way. It is a great modern interpretation of the G37 coupe. Although it’s a totally different car you can still tell it’s the new version of the G. Similar to the G35 - G37 coupe update. However, as I’ve always regarded the G37 coupe as having understated elegance, the Q60 is making a statement with its more aggressive styling. That is the big difference between the two cars. What’s abundantly similar is that it’s still a heavy-ish coupe that you can feel when taking an on ramp at speed. However, the ride in the Q is much more compliant than the G. It’s still sports coupe firm but a lot less so than the G. The one headscratcher for me is the paddle shifters. The G has (IMO) one of the best paddle shifter designs in the business. They are elongated, column mounted, aluminum pieces partially wrapped in rubber. Gorgeous, and nice to the touch. Infiniti decided to go with a steering wheel mounted, black plastic paddle shifter in the Q instead. Boooooooo. They even put them on the Q60 Red Sport. Interestingly enough, Infiniti decided to equip the Q50 Red Sport with the paddle shifters from the G37 S. Seriously?! </rant> Infiniti has succeeded in making the seats more comfortable than the seats in the G. They actually feel good on my backside. It is a combination of materials, less bolstering, and form. One last thing and I’ll end this novel. I remember hating the chrome accent on the trunk lid of the G. I’m glad Infiniti tossed that out. However, they seemed to replace that “signature” piece with the chrome hockey stick shaped vents (venting what I still don’t know) on the front quarter panels. Like the trunk lid accent on the G, the hockey stick vents are growing on me.

All in all I feel right at home in my Q60 Sport. I’m glad I picked it over the other sports coupes I considered, test drove, and toiled over. Like my G37 I believe I’ll enjoy driving this car for a long time. Now off to making payments again!

Those hockey stick vents are appearing on many BMW's including the X5 and 7-series. Iirc they are to channel air flow from the front tires around the car that is supposed to help in both stability and lowering noise/coefficient of drag. I can't tell you if they work, but that's the "official" explanation lmao.

Good review.

Infiniti is not the only brand that has the annoying diesel like sound... I think that is the nature of Direct Injection engines.... Mine has it too. and 4 cylinders are even worse.

I am surprised they are using square tire set up for the sport trim. Is yours AWD?

Mine is RWD. I figure as long as they picked the larger width then I'm fine with that.

Yah it could have been worse ... like BMW... put 225 all around on 335 sport.

I just did a quick search, it seems the red sport is staggered but not the 300hp Sport....
