Discreet dashboard camera

This is actually a suggestion for Acura, but that option wasn't available as a 'Prefix'. I'm posting it here hoping someone from Acura will see my suggestion and take it seriously. I'd like to see a hidden camera built into my next Acura to act as a dashboard camera. I'd also like to see the backup camera used in conjunction with the forward facing camera. These cameras should record continuously. The video should be uploaded to a cloud drive for security purposes. This would be a great theft deterrent and could be used to protect oneself in the event of an accident or road rage incident. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

The forum where you originally posted, The AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area, is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the Car Talk.

I think this could easily be adapted, especially with the Advance model that already has cameras mounted at the top of the windshield.

Corvette already has this is as a factory option.

People still steal Acuras?

Maybe for the high-performance tires and the best-in-class aerodynamic side mirrors.

Doubt it will be standard anytime soon, but there is a thread in Car Talk about dash cams as several have installed them in a variety of cars...

Acura has bigger problems to worry about than deciding whether or not to put a dashboard camera into their future cars.

This would be a very interesting idea. It'd take a large amount of space to store the video though

High capacity SD cards are dirt cheap, under $50 for a 128GB from PNY with a quick google search.

This is a cool idea and I think Chevy started something and others will jump on. I personally have one in my company car and just put an A118 in my wife's car. The camera was inexpensive and pretty tiny.

As for the backup cam, I would think the problem would be how angled down it is but maybe I'm wrong. The cloud seems crazy, the amount of data used would be killer and why, a simple card can easily handle it.

Why not just buy a dash cam aftermarket OP?

Unless you want a 50-500$ camera (depending on brand, capacity, etc.) to become a $5000 factory option....
