On the way to work this morning, saw exact car like your wife, but dark grey. Tried taking a pic for you, but couldnt.
It was lowered on black wheels. Full limo tint. Rear bumper had LARGE sticker "DROPPER"
Each of the rear door had LARGE sticker that said "PANTY DROPPER"
Front door had tons of stickers (like they used to do in the 90s), and big letter that said JDM.
THought it was supposed to KDM?

Let me put it in a clear perspective so you understand the mentality. Remove yourself from someone who is a car enthusiast, to the average joe that drives a vehicle because it takes them from point A to point B. You see this vehicle from behind and confused a bit because the emblems look like it's a lexus but not quite. There's no badges on the trunk either, so some will take a picture and most likely post it on the interwebs or social media asking "What kind of car is this?" Many kia owners that change their emblems to the K badges get asked that question. If it makes you feel better, nobody takes pictures of my TL anymore, She gets most of it and more so with the HHR's on the vehicle. [/QUOTE]
I would take many pictures of your gorgeous TL my friend. That is a good looking car... even stock. The kia is just a kia to me. If it's super fast then cool. But it just looks like a kia to me. The trunk could be missing and I would know it is a kia still. Just found it weird people took pictures of a kia... it's a kia.
Good job on the mods done so far. I just found that one quote funny.
Gorgeous tl dude. Love the works.

I was just surprised people take pictures of it. Looks cool for a kia I suppose. No reason to get all nasty and name call dude.

Great job on the Optima dude
My girl has a 2013 in white with a black roof. Her fuel economy makes my TL feel like a v8. I try to ignore that

lol No you're just getting mad because I said it was just a kia and questioned why people would take pictures of it.
You preceded to name call and talk shit simply in retaliation to my opinion about some dudes wife's car. An opinion that wasn't even bad. Didn't say the car was ugly. I said it's a kia.
Sorry OP. Didn't mean anything negative aside from question why people would take pictures if what I see as an ordinary kia. Nice tasteful mods that don't look ricey at all. If it drive next to me I would think it was stock and came like that... as it should have.

Real car enthusiasts don't bash other enthusiasts. Whether they are donking up their cutlass or ricing out their Hondas. You don't have to like everyone's car, but one can appreciate someone spending money and time and effort, even if it isn't your taste.

Ouch! Glad the airbags did their job. You said $35k gone so did the person who hit her not have insurance?
#60
Dude, you're the one coming into another guy's thread and shitting on his car, and then you get all defensive about it, while still bashing it. Don't like it? Press "back" on your browser and don't let the door hit you on the way out. It's just a Kia. You're right. And it's just a hell of a lot nicer than your civic.
I just questioned people taking pictures of a damn car. OP took the comments far better than the rest of you did. Get over it. It's just an opinion and talking cap about my car frankly changes nothing about it. Very adult of you guys though.
OP again sorry for the thread jack. Kia is clean. I would take pictures of your TL 100 times over before even looking at the kia... then I'd walk back to the TL.

I'm glad she's alright! I love the SX-L. Beautiful cars, especially the 2014 version and that diamond stitching interior. What other vehicle did you get?
I remember a while back reading a thread of someone who just bought an Optima and had his wife follow him home from the dealership. No more than 15 mins into it she got into a nasty accident. Saved her life, She rolled the Optima a few times. Here are some pictures

Holy shit. She's lucky to be alive!! Hopefully injuries were minor and she's ok. I'm surprised the panoramic roof didn't shatter.
Husband must've been pissed, lol.

Both rides look great. Awesome mods to both!
I was driving through a parking lot a couple months ago and saw a really nice white car with chrome wheels, and thought man what is that, Lexus??? Went by and realized it was an Optima. Very surprised. They really have come a long way

You live in Maryland. Why don't you take a trip to the manufacturing facility and see them being made in the flesh in a few months. Or did Honda just invest a few hundred million dollars for vaporware?

Are the GDI models, diesels?

Tell me about it. However, on the bright side, that KIA kept her safe.
There is no Diesel model. GDI stands for Gasoline Direct Injection. All of the newer Optimas have Direct injection. Just like the TLX. Thing with direct injection engines is the build up of carbon. She always uses 93 and follows the manual on using a fuel system cleaner every 7K. Try explaining to those TLX guys that using regular is really not good for a high compression, direct injection engine.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Very nice looking car OP. There is a fine line to doing a lot of mods and keeping it tasteful. Well executed
Now, if we could just find out what someone was compensating for when buying an ILX.
(I couldn't resist)

Small update:
NJ has had some winter so far. A lot of snow and ice. One day my wife calls and tells me someone brushed up against her bumper and bent the fender just a bit and her bumper was missing some paint and had marks. naturally nobody leaves a note, and nobody saw anything. We looked at her insurance deductible and we both decided to go out of pocket since it would still be under her price. She found a guy selling a used turbo bumper for a great price with a hair line crack on the very bottom. The body shop wanted $400.00 to paint and fix it as long as I let them have it for 3 weeks. Tomorrow her bumper should be ready.
Her brakes were due, so I got Cross drilled and slotted rotors w/pads from R1 Concepts! Packaged perfect and looked like top quality stuff.
Decided to install them in the freezing cold today. It was roughly 9 outside but certainly felt like -10. As I started with the passenger front wheel he ran into a problem. Long story short, we had Firestone install the genesis wheels. One of the wheels had a bubble on the sidewall which they failed to tell us. I ordered a new tire and had them install it. Today was the 1st time since they touched the car last that those wheels had come off. They cross threaded a stud and mangled it pretty good. I have to take the car back tomorrow so they can look at it. It's a pretty involved job since they can't just remove it without removing the hub and pressing out the wheel bearing.
Did the brakes all around.
The bad stud

The new brakes look fantastic! She's certainly riding in style
Sorry to hear about the damage. I'm excited to see the new bumper installed!
