2nd gen CTS-V gets an Irish wake

2nd gen CTS-V. The 3rd gen CTS-V will likely be too sedate for me....and Cadillac is reported to be shoving enthusiasts toward the ATS-V. My V wagon, always a keeper, has now become even more so with only 1747 produced in four model years, and only 500 of those 6MT. This is why I procured another car, my new RLX hybrid. While I will continue to use my V wagon on road trips and in good weather (including during the winter), after my premature rust problems earlier this year I decided I was going to garage it on snowy days. Again, this is only on snowy days! It's not going to be a garage queen.

But Cadillac is not letting 2009–2015 CTS-V go gently into that good night, even as its replacement is poised to debut in just in just two months at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Instead, Cadillac invited us to Austin's Circuit of the Americas racetrack for what it called an "Irish wake" for the model that has proven to be one of the quickest and most charismatic models in General Motors' history.

....

Even so, a manual CTS-V wagon is the rarest and perhaps the most collectible CTS-V of them all, with only 509 sold since 2011. Another rare bird is the matte silver CTS-V coupe, just 100 of which were built in 2013.

Wow Bob Congrats. Sounds like you have a great combination of a daily driver and and a rare unicorn!
So you get to continue to enjoy it and potentially sell it for good money at some point down the road.

You've got two REALLY rare cars! I'm not a Cadillac fan, but I've got to admit, there's something special about that CTS-V Wagon...

I seriously believe that the CTS-V Wagon with a stick shift will become the thing of legend in years to come. Gearheads will argue over whether or not it really existed.

The CTS-V is a future collectable. It's importance to the brand, muscular design language, and performance numbers reminds me of the Buick Grand National. The black coupe with the black wheels and yellow calipers is in my fantasy garage for sure.

edit: I actually saw one of those matte silver coupes on the road before. Siiiiiick. That particular car is a future high bid, Barrett Jackson item.

It was a poor weld in the wheel arch, supposed to have been done by a robot. To fix it, they cut away the rust (luckily only a small amount), welded the area properly, then repainted. If it comes back, the entire panel will be replaced at no cost. My wagon is one of two I know with the problem.
